About the location OVER HADDON The village of Over Haddon (situated just two miles from Bakewell) in the Peak District National Park. A little gem of a village, it offers a scattering of stone cottages, an excellent country pub, along with being a magnet for walkers looking to explore the beautiful Lathkill Dale. Over Haddon is one of the many Derbyshire villages to “bless the wells” in the traditional wells dressing celebrations in June every year – this is something very different to enjoy in this wonderful area. Just two miles away is the delightful town of Bakewell, which is famous for its Bakewell Pudding and retains a delightful rural atmosphere offering a good selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as frequent local farmers’ markets. Both the rugged Dark Peak and the softer limestone White Peak are within easy reach, as is Alton Towers, Britain’s premier theme park, just a short drive away. There are many stately homes to visit including Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall to mention just a few, while the impressive caverns in nearby Castleton and Little John’s burial place in Hathersage are also well worth a visit. Over Haddon is an ideal base for exploring the whole of the Peak District. We have private off road parking available for 1 car for our guests. A regular bus service operates from Over Haddon to Bakewell which is just 2 miles away. Each of the single first floor bedrooms is accessed via its own open staircase. Guests may not find this suitable for very young children.
