The house, declared as ancient monument, is located in the central square of the unique village Pera Oreinis, Nicosia district, Cyprus. On the ground floor there is a living room with fireplace, WC/kitchen/dining area, & a double bedroom. 2 staircases lead to 2 double bedrooms on mezzanines (one from the living room&one from the ground floor bedroom) with WC/shower, one with sauna. The livingroom opens to a semicovered patio with stone arches. The kitchen opens to a patio with a semicoverd area. The bedrooms: Ground floor - Double bedroom 1 : Bedroom 1 has a double bed and direct access to a small courtyard wit a semicoverd dining/breakfast area which is common with the kitchen. The courtyard has access through a wooden doorway to a narrow quiet street. This bedroom is adjacent to a spacious living room with a fireplace & a WC. Next to the living room there is separate kitchen/dining area. The living room and the kitchen/dining area have access to a bigger patio with a semicovered area framed with two beautifull stone arches. The courtyard has palms, other trees and two small traditional ovens, as well as a high wooden door-gate leading to the narrow street. First floor / Mezzanine - Double bedroom 2: An internal wooden old and steep staitcase leads from the groundfloor bedroom 1, to bedroom 2 on the mezzanine This bedroom has a double bed, a WC and a shower. A little internal window overlooks from the bedroom to the living room and two more windows overlook to the smaller patio. First floor / Mezzanine - Double bedroom 3: An old wooden and steep internal staircase leads from the living room, to a small balcony and to bedroom 3 on the mezzanine. This bedroom has a double bed, a shower/WC and a sauna. The common areas: living room, kitchen/dining, patios and semi-outdoor spaces. Welcoming visitors to the house, handing over the keys and giving them information and guidance about the place, the surroundings and Cyprus in general. The village preserves its traditional character presenting quite a number of listed -well restored - houses, a picturesque central square where cultural events and festivals take place, three remarkable old churches and two cultural centres. Pera Oreinis has a population of (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) inhabitants, it is 400 m. above sea level and it is built by the Pedhieos river bank, which is dry most time of the year. Alongside the river there are picturesque nature trails and bicycle routes. Pera Oreinis is situated near Tamassos dam, which is about one hour walking distance across the Pedhieos river bank. The village lies at the foot of the Machairas mountains. Its walks on the fantastic nature trails of the Machairas mountains offer spectacular views over Nicosia and across to the coastal hills. The village is 15km from the capital city of Nicosia (Lefkosia in Greek), 48 km from the beautiful beaches of Maroni – Zygi area, 2.5 km from Monastery of Saint Herakleidios [8th century AC] and 16km from the Machairas monastery [12th century AC], which is in second position in terms of prestige in Cyprus. The Metropolis of Tamassos and Oreinis is one of the oldest dioceses of Cyprus, as the first bishop of Saint Herakleidios ordained by the apostles Barnabas and Paul in the year 45 AD. Pera Oreinis is seven minutes’ drive (3.4 km) from the archaeological site of Tamassos which was one of the most important city kingdoms of Cyprus. The site has unearthed the temple of Aphrodite, two majestic royal tombs, as well as several smaller ones. The site has unearthed also part of the city’s fortifications and copper-processing installations, whilst excavations have also brought to light copper workshops associated with Aphrodite - Astarte and six oversized limestone statues dating back to the 6th century BC, when Cyprus was under Egyptian rule. There are busconnections to other villages and to Nicosia (Lefkosia in Greek). One minute walk from the house, there is a spatious public parking space at the back of the central village square. In the village there is a small supermarket and a restaurant, which opens upon request. Near the village there are all amenities and facilities such as supermarkets, restaurants and cafés.
