Mews cottage recently renovated, situated in a private mews, with the benefit of two private car parking spaces. The property comprises; open plan lounge/fitted kitchen/diner, a large kingsize bedroom and separate family bathroom with walk-in shower on the first floor, a further loft bedroom with twin beds that can be configured as two full singles or linked together to form one super-kingsize bed. A further single bed is also set up in this room. The beauty of this property is its location. We bought this Mews cottage in December 2020 to fulfil our own needs as a family of 5 visiting family in the area. We had struggled previously to find somewhere to stay that had a boutique hotel feel in central Yarm. The property has gated access to award winning Yarm High street with its traditional cobbled street, where guests can visit numerous bistros, restaurants, coffee shops and pubs, as well as designer and boutique shops without the need to get into a car. No need for a designated driver. No need to cook. The property is 100 metres from beautiful walkways along the River Tees or from the place to take a boat trip along the river. A great base for visiting the local area or as a stop off to or from Scotland / London. The property has been recently renovated to a high standard. Egyptian cotton high thread count bedding and 750 gsm towels supplied. The property is set up to accommodate two couples comfortably or a family of 5. The top bedroom has restricted headroom at the sides but is a big room and does not feel cramped but this may be a factor if all guests are over 6ft in height! If in doubt then feel free to contact us to discuss your needs before booking. In addition to the above, two travel cots are available with bedding. A housekeeper will be available to handle emergencies The property is located within the market town of Yarm. Yarm is a quaint cobble stone traditional town on the banks of the River Tees and is well known for its plentiful supply of pubs, restaurants and boutique shops. Sainsburys is adjacent to the mews in which the cottage is situated making it very easy to obtain any essentials throughout the stay. Yarm also has a Boots the Chemist but apart from Sainsburys and Boots there are no other major high street shops represented, ensuring the character of the town is preserved. The mews cottage is in a very safe and secure neighbourhood and located literally a short stroll from the river, down a quiet lane separated from the high street by a gate with a secure code only known to residents. Yarm is certainly one of the loveliest, safest towns within the area. It is possible to take a boat cruise on the “Teesside Princess” which takes you along the waterways of the Tees but best to book in advance as this is popular. If you fancy a walk during your stay then check out Preston Park where there is a decent children’s’ playground, and lovely walks around the grounds. In summertime festivals and shows are sometimes staged within the grounds of the park. At times, paddle boats can be hired on the Tees. The large retail park, Teesside Park, just off the A66 about 19/15 minutes drive away, can be visited for more standard retail therapy. Alternatively Middlesbrough is a short 15/20 minute drive away from Yarm, again along the A66 - so 5 minutes further on from Teesside Park. This is the home of Middlesbrough football team. It is a 45 minute drive to Durham from Yarm and the towns of Richmond, Barnard Castle, Saltburn and Darlington are all around 30 minutes away by car. As Yarm is only a 10 minute drive from the A19 motorway it is generally recognised as being a good “stop off” place on the way North from London to Scotland or vice versa.
