My house is located on the southern most island, Sudoroy, surrounded by breathtaking nature with public transportation right by the door. The 2 hour ferry trip to the island, return ticket about 11 euro and 37 euro with car, is beautiful. You will love my newly renovated house decorated stylish and simple with brand new and comfortable beds and a beautiful view from several rooms. The house has 3 nice rooms and is perfect for couples, friends and families with or without kids. A cozy house with facilities for up to 4 people located in the small village Nes next to Hvalba. The house is a typical older Faroe house that has recently been completely renovated. The ground floor consists of a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, oven, hotplates and refrigerator, a dining room, 1 bedroom and a small but functional bathroom with a shower. The first floor has 1 bedroom and the sitting room with a beautiful and stunning view over the sea and mountains. The house is suitable for 4 people. All beds are quite new with comfortable mattresses. All room are decorated stylish and elegant. Children are of course welcome in the house, but be aware that there is a staircase with no security gate and no children toys available. But I do have one chair for a child. Facilities There is wi-fi in the house. There is a TV the Faroe channel and in the sitting room a smart Tv.. You will find bed sheets, towels, soap and shampoo in the house. Upon your arrival, there will be toilet paper, tissues and dishwasher tabs but you are required to replace these items if you stay for a longer period when you leave to ensure the same facilities to the next guests. You are welcome to use coffee, spices etc. found in the kitchen. There is a washing machine and fridge in the basement for free use. Acces to the entire house. The key to the house will be ready for you at the house when you check in. If you have any questions regarding the house during your stay, you can contact Elin and Jon who lives on the island. Phone numbers will be delivered when booking. If you have questions regarding the area etc. all the neighbours are very nice and helpful. There are many activities on Sudoroy, also for tourists. A visit to the only town on the west-side of the island, Fámjin, is a must see experience, and an easy hike across the mountains towards South to the town Sumba is a beautiful nature experience. No special equipment is required to walk in the mountains, and on the top of the mountains the landscape is flat. There are stone marks (heaps of stones) that indicate the route, but it is a good idea to pick up some brochures with walking routes from the tourist office in Tvoeroyri so you are sure of the route. In Hvalba, the old harbour on the West side of the island is also worth a visit, but remember good shoes for the descent to the harbour since the path down is a bit steep. However, everyone can manage the trip if a little care is exercised. The nearest grocery store is a lovely walk along the fiord to Hvalba about 2.9 km from the house. If you follow the road, the grocery store is on your right hand when you pass the soccer field. In the cities Trongisvágur and Tvøroyri, around 12 km from Nes, there are several shopping opportunities including groceries, bakeries, clothes, gift articles and so on. There are also dining options, and especially Café Mormor is worth a visit. The café is located in an old house with original-looking interior and furniture. The café owner Anna makes lovely homemade sandwiches, cakes and a Meal of the Day - all at reasonable prices. There is a ferry-route from Hirsthals, Denmark, to Thorshavn. Most people however prefer to go by plane with Atlantic Airways from either Copenhagen, Billund or Aalborg (Denmark), or Norway, Iceland or Scotland. From Vagar airport there are bus routes to Thorshavn or a taxi can be ordered, transport time around one hour. It is also possible to rent a car e.g. from Avis in the airport, but I would recommend to use the company Bilrøykt in Thorshavn since prices are lower and we have always been satisfied with the quality of the cars. It would require that you pick up the car at Bilrøykt, but it pays off. From Thorshavn the ferry Smyril sails to Suduroy (in Faroese Suðuroy meaning South Island). The trip is very beautiful and takes about 2 hours. It is possible to buy food and drinks on the ferry at reasonable prices, and the return tickets are around 11 euro per person and 37 euro for a car. Tickets are bought on the ferry in the small shop on deck 5 on the trip back from Sudoroy to Thorshavn. It is possible to visit the bridge and meet the captain, just ask the personel on the ferry. There are several busses and small local busses on Suderoy (and the other islands), and at the passanger-exit of the ferry is the local bus 701 to Nes. If you ask to get off in Nes at Nesvegur 60, the bus will take you directly to the front door of the house. If you wish to go with the bus around the island, you can call it and ask to be picked up at the house (ask for the phone number in the bus).
