The Old House

We are located in rural Normandy, France, 500m from a small village. Our home consists of an original house and adjacent barn conversion. We live in the barn conversion and it is the original house which is the accommodation offered here. The lounge has been maintained in the French style. The upstairs bedroom and ensuite bathroom are newly decorated. Separated from the main house by a thick granite wall, the accommodation has its own entrance. The owner is English and speaks some French. The property is for an adult couple, one 50m sq living room and kitchenette combined, plus one bedroom with ensuite toilet, sink and shower. Kitchenette has a fridge, gas hob, microwave, hot water, kettle, toaster etc. English satellite TV, French standard TV, DVD machine. Wifi included. Some games and books available. Dogs are welcome (no dangerous breeds please), obviously must be housetrained! We have a small very friendly dog who is always keen to meet new friends! There is a field where the dogs can run out. There is a separate garden to the side of the house with table and chairs for guests. There are other grass areas which guests are welcome to use. There is a separate garden for guests to the side of the house with table, chairs and sunshade. Guests are welcome to wander around other parts of the garden where there are various seats and tables. There is a grass field to walk in and is good for dogs. The owners decking area is available for guests if they wish to use it. We are always available to help, just ask us if there is anything you need. Our village of St Michel de Montjoie used to be on the pilgrim route to Mont St Michel. The Mont and the coast can be seen from the viewpoint in the village (on a clear day!). It is 50 minutes drive away. The area is quiet and peaceful and surrounded by fields and trees. We are located 40 mins from the coast, 50 mins from Mont St Michel or the excellent town of Grenville. Nearer is the pretty town of Villedieu. Lake Dathee is 8km and Lake La Gast and St Sever forest at 8km. The walking route GR22 passes on the road past our property; there are several walking loops from the house (a couple of hours of 8km or 10km distance). 1. Please leave the property clean. If you prefer us to clean it let us know. The cleaning fee is 25 euro. 2. Smoking in the rooms is not permitted (smoke detectors fitted). 3. The accommodation is not suitable for children aged 3 to 12. 4. No dogs in the bedroom or ensuite bathroom please.
