Experience a relaxing holiday on a Bordeaux family winery 20 min from Bordeaux

Chateau la Gontrie is an ideal base to discover all the beauties and treasures of Bordeaux and its region. You will enjoy all the modern comfort of a fully self-catering holiday house set in a calm lovely hilly countryside on a family owned winery. The wine maker and owner Jean-Louis (bi-lingual in English) and Nola (his Australian wife) will be delighted to share their passion for Bordeaux and its region and will be happy to help you make your holidays a most enjoyable experience. You can relax on this 11-hectare property, surrounded by the gardens, vines and forest of Château la Gontrie. Less than 50 meters from the holiday house there is a large swimming pool area (secured for children) with a shared pool of 12m x 6m*. This haven of peace is only 20 minutes from Bordeaux. *SInce March 2020 we have set up a schedule so that each family enjoys a private swimming pool 1 hour in the morning and 3 hours in the afternoon every day ( see photo) . Description of the holiday house: Le Relais : 2 bedrooms – 2 to 4 guests + 1 child's bed : The house Le Relais ‘s façade was built with the typical sand stone of Bordeaux which is part of the main building facing West. This bright and colourful house has all the assets of a modern house, free Wi-Fi internet access, sofa, TV comfortable beds, well equipped-kitchen. The ground floor consists of a large living room and dining room, a separate kitchen, a laundry and a toilet. On the first floor a landing leads to: a parental room with a bed of 1,6m x 2m and a twin bedroom with 2 beds 1m x 2m. An extra bed for a child under 10 years old can be added in the twin bedroom on request. Each bedroom has its own ensuite (shower, washbasin and toilet). Each bedrooms are equipped with blackout curtains and good quality bedding to ensure you the best relaxing holiday. The Relais’s garden is equipped with a barbecue, a table and garden chairs. Staying on a family owned wine property you will benefit from a free English visit of the vineyard, winery and tasting of our 6 different wines. This visit and wine tasting takes about 1hour and a half. Passionate about their region, Jean-Louis, Nola and Andréa (their daughter) will be very happy to share their local knowledge and their favourites places with you to help you discover the best of the area. This is an ideal destination for a family holiday or to share with some friend in a spacious and self-catering holiday house. The beautiful green surroundings in the middle of the vines will help you to relax and experience life on a family Bordeaux winery. In the grounds there is table tennis, a volley ball area and swings for the children. We also provide free bicycles to ride to our local bakery (800meters) for the croissant lovers or to go and get some oysters (from the Bassin d’Arcachon) Sunday morning in the village. A bientôt Family Rives Jean-Louis & Nola and Andréa Cleaning procedures in our holiday houses and activities on our property Welcoming hosts in our 4 holiday houses since 1998, we have always valued handing over our holiday houses as near as we can to being spotless. Our cleaning routines are now essential in our fight against COVID 19. That’s why we wish to underline the details of the cleaning procedures set for 2020 and 2021. Cleaning of each holiday house once the hosts have left at 10 AM : - Disinfection of the holiday house with a high pressure steamer vacuum cleaner on the tiles, carpets and sofas, eliminates 99,99% of germs, bacteria’s and viruses. - Disinfection of all the doors, window handles, cupboard nobs with antibacterial wipes. - The remote control of the TV is wrapped with cellophane paper and sealed with tape where we write the family name of the host. The cellophane paper is replaced systematically between each host. - Disinfection with bleach products of the bathrooms, toilets and wash basin. - The dishes and cutlery are rewashed with a 60°C program after each host. Swimming pool: - We will provide a pump of antibacterial gel next to the gate of the swimming pool so that you can disinfect your hands. Because of all those drastic cleaning measures, thank you to respect the hour of departure which is 10 AM and your arrival time which isn’t before 6PM so our cleaning team can work in good conditions.
