Bayfield Plus, calming mix of traditional and new
A delightful, newly built cottage featuring traditional oak beams and a double height kitchen/diner resembling a chapel. The glazed rear wall lets in plenty of light, while french doors open onto a charming patio where you can sit and enjoy the sun. Above the cosy living room are the bedroom and en suite shower, tucked under the rafters with sloping ceilings. Mind your head! Impressive oak beams, oak doors and stripped pine floors create a delightful fusion of traditional and modern design. The double height kitchen/ dining room gives the cottage its unique atmosphere - expansive yet cosy, stylish yet welcoming. You will have the whole cottage to yourselves and also the patio, which is a sun trap The cottage is looked after by Zoe, who lives in the village so is conveniently placed if you need anything. The keys are kept in a key safe, so you can arrive any time after 1pm and come and go as you please. Milk, tea, coffee and sugar will welcome you on arrival. Check out is by 11 am. Foulsham is a quiet village with a convenience store and a friendly pub serving excellent, reasonably priced food. Market day in the nearby town of Fakenham is on Thursday, when there is also an auction; the supermarkets are open every day (Morrison's is the place for petrol) and there's also a farmer's market on the last Sunday of each month. Foulsham is well situated for reaching Norwich, Kings Lynn, Holt and Wells next the sea, the gloriously unspoiled beaches of north Norfolk, stately homes like Sandringham, Holkham and Houghton Halls and Norfolk's many fine churches which often have gilded angels on their ceilings. Please see my guidebook for suggestions of places to visit and things to do. You need a car in Norfolk as public transport is limited; there's no parking on the property, but parking is free all along the street. The countryside is perfect for cycling as it is predominantly flat, the minor roads are quiet and there are also designated cycle routes along old railway lines. Walkers can enjoy the famous Peddar's Way, a 46 mile walking trail along an ancient Roman road. The gorgeous beaches, sand dunes, pine forests and villages along the north Norfolk coast are served by a convenient Coast Hopper, so you can park, follow the coast path and then return to your car by bus. Please see my guidebook for more details.. The cottage has narrow stairs and sloping ceilings upstairs and is not suitable for infants. children, pets, smokers or very tall people. The sofa bed is a small double (4 foot) so is not good for people who like lots of room !
