Thatched cottage in rural setting.
Leverton is a very pretty & peaceful hamlet, set in beautiful countryside, affording wonderful walks including one to nearby Roman ruins. Within an hour and a half's journey by road from Central London, many places of historical interest, including Windsor, Bath, Oxford, Winchester, Salisbury, Stonehenge & Avebury are within an hour's drive. Built over 200 years ago the cottage is full of character and charm, the unusually high ceiling beams have been stripped to reveal the natural grain of the wood, central heating has been installed and care has been taken to keep improvements and furnishings as far as is possible, in character with the age of the cottage. A bathroom is set between the two first floor bedrooms, and a small ground floor bedroom/study has an adjoining shower room. Breakfast is taken around an old farmhouse table, overlooking a very pretty and ever changing terraced garden. Their bedroom, private bathroom, garden. Almost always. The beauty of the countryside, the individuality of the nearby market town of Hungerford, which is mostly served by independent & very individual shops, including a number of antique shops. Local craftsmen include a high number of talented artists, wood turners, potters, and in Leverton itself, the best picture framers ever. Good homemade foodstuffs & locally grown produce can be purchased from local farmers' markets and farm shops. The train station is within walking distance, Buses are less frequent.
