Garden Paradise Outside Berlin

Get away from it all in a beautiful woodland garden about one hour's drive from Berlin. The holiday apartment in our (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) built house has its own entrance and has been lovingly restored with an eye to authenticity and vintage charm. The (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) built house is set in the middle of nature, on the edge of a forest, and surrounded by a 3,000 sq. m. garden. It is located about 2 km outside of a small village and its sole neighbor is a large timber-framed house, a former sheep farm. The large holiday apartment is lovingly furnished with furniture from the late 19th century, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ’s, (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) ’s, as well as design originals by Heineberg co-host Erwin Leber. It is comprised of a large eat-in kitchen, which leads into the living area outfitted with a wood-burning stove. From the living room, doors lead onto the terrace and into the garden. Klein Behnitz lies in a triangle between Brandenburg, Ribbeck and Nauen. Nearby places of interest include the agricultural landmark Landgut Borsig in Groß Behnitz (5 km), Schloss Ribbeck (12 km) and Schloss Paretz (20 km), which can be reached by bicycle over country roads or bicycle paths. The Trappen or large buzzard colony is a further attraction in Havelland (10 km) and clear lakes between Klein Behnitz and Brandenburg offer swimming and boating activities. Potsdam is 30 km away, and Berlin is an hour’s drive or 40 minute train ride away Guests have access to our 3,000 sq. ft. garden. They can sit under the rose arbour, lounge on a blanket under any of the apple trees, stretch their feet in our Adirondack chairs, swing in a hammock between two elms, or relax at their own outdoor table and chairs on the terrace, In spring/summer, they can spice up their meals with fresh herbs from the herb garden. There's a grill at their disposal, 2 bikes for use free of charge, as well as the sauna in the garden house which costs 10€ per session. How much we interact with guests is up to them. We are generally on the premises during their visit, but try to be sensitive to guests' desire for privacy. We share a veranda - but on opposite ends, and to date neither we or our guests have felt any crowding. Both my husband and I tend to be active - working in the garden or elsewhere on the grounds. Our offered three-course meal can be served family style - with us - or separately indoors in their eat-in kitchen, at their outdoor table on the terrace or in the rose arbor. For those who love nature, Heineberg and the immediate surroundings is an oasis. Dirt roads and woodland paths, fields bordered by the forest, almost no traffic to speak of -- three cars a day is a lot! What you'll hear: birds, an occasional baah from the neighbor's sheep, the chopping of wood. What you'll see: hares, deer, our cats, birds of all feathers, maybe even the badger family, but they don't show themselves often. And the most extravagantly starry nighttime skies. It's the perfect city antidote. And then there's Landgut Borsig in Groß Behnitz 3 kilometers away - a relaxing walk or short bike ride will take you to this landmark agricultural complex with lakeside restaurant and cafe and charming views. A car is helpful, as bus service to Nauen, the next larger town, is intermittent, especially on weekends. However, there are bicycles at your disposal. Surprise! There's a piano in the kitchen - and it's tuned. You will also find homemade jam, plus coffee, tea, olive oil, herbal vinegar, salt and pepper on hand in the full-service kitchen. Also, though (Hidden by Airbnb) Maps insist we are listed as being in Nauen, we are located in Klein Behnitz which is 16 km from Nauen.
