If you’re looking for a dog-friendly country escape, our three-bedroom lovingly converted barn Marquesa has it all. Sleeping six, with two four-legged friends also very welcome. The barn is located on the historic Welbeck estate, nestled within Sherwood Forest in north Nottinghamshire. There are wonderful country walks straight from the door and it is a great central location for exploring Rufford, Newstead, Clumber, Bolsover Castle and Hardwick Hall. This three-bedroom dog-friendly barn conversion sleeps up to six and has more than its fair share of original features. Walk through the main entrance and you will find yourself within the light-filled sunroom. Plonk yourself down on the chairs right here and you can be forgiven if you don’t feel much like moving any further. It’s the perfect spot for enjoying a cuppa and watching the world go by. Walk through the stone archway into the large open plan kitchen and you will a find sleek, contemporary design alongside many hints of its past. Look out for the huge arched window with original deep recess above the sink and the tiny slot windows that overlook the entrance courtyard and rear patio. Within the kitchen is a breakfast bar and beyond that a dining area with seating for six. It leads into a large lounge with sumptuous sofas arranged around a television. We’re betting though that your attention will be drawn by the impressive rural views. Large doors lead out of the lounge directly onto the south-facing patio, which has steps up to a fenced lawned area with an outlook across the fields and beyond. A stroll along the path right by the garden takes you directly to the gorge of Creswell Crags and its beautiful lakeside walk. But if you fancy just staying put, that’s fine too. The outdoor space is equipped with a large table and chairs making it easy to sit back, relax and recharge the batteries. Take a book out there with you and a coffee or, weather permitting, chill outdoors all day and enjoy lunch and dinner alfresco. This floor also has a toilet/washroom and utility space. Upstairs you’ll find a master bedroom with a king-size bed, a luxurious family bathroom, and a double bedroom with Jack and Jill en suite, which also links to a room with bunk beds. Guests have sole use of the barn, garden and patio area at the back. The courtyard at the front is shared with the other barns, with designated parking for at least 3 cars. Guest have access to the public footpaths across the estate from and can also walk through the estate to the cafe, farm shop and art galleries. Our friendly team are available at all times to help with any queries, questions or problems you may have. The estate also has 24-hour security. One of five stunning barn conversions with views across the countryside available as holiday cottages. The 15,000-acre country estate that surrounds Welbeck Abbey has been home to the Dukes of Portland and their families since 1607. Nestled in Nottinghamshire’s Sherwood Forest, it has provided the perfect country retreat for centuries ....And continues to do so. Tucked away in a quiet part of the estate are the newly transformed Holbeck Farm Barns, providing the chance to truly get away from it all. These self-contained barn conversions are set in the estate’s picture-perfect village of Holbeck with uninterrupted views of rolling fields and woodland. Here you can immerse yourself in a slower pace of life, enjoy the peaceful surroundings and explore the paths that flank the barns. A trail that starts by the side of the Barns leads right into the picturesque limestone gorge of the estate’s Creswell Crags; home to the only Ice Age cave art in the UK. If art’s your thing, there’s easy access to The Courtyard at Welbeck too with its contemporary art gallery and museum and a trip there isn’t complete without a stop off at The Harley Café and Welbeck Farm Shop. You can also book to try fishing on the private Welbeck lakes, enjoy a short course at The School of Artisan Food. or take a horse ride, carriage trip or pony trek from Coloured Cob Equestrian Centre. If you’re able to stay a little longer and have time to explore, there are plenty of places to visit right on the doorstep. Clumber Park, Sherwood Forest, Rufford Abbey Country Park, Newstead Abbey, Bolsover Castle, Sherwood Pines, Gullivers Valley theme park, Mr Straws House or Hardwick Hall are just a few of the many places within a 30 minutes’ drive.
