This charming 2-bedroom former fisherman’s cottage on the tranquil south coast of Cornwall is a dream for design lovers and is a 1-minute walk to Portscatho beach. The open plan living space with its wood burning stove is spacious and ideal for families. It’s all brightly decorated with a mixture of antique and modern furnishings including a Hay sofa and Svenskt Tenn chair. The master bedroom is a generous size, with a Scandinavian bed and bookshelves filled with holiday reads, while the stylish twin bedroom suits children. The back entrance to the house is has a wall of hooks for wetsuits, coats and beach toys, and a blackboard wall for children to draw on. This 2-story cottage has a large open plan living room / diner / kitchen with a wood burning stove and a table seating up to 6, with a Stokke high chair for babies. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs with glimpse sea-views: a master kingsize bedroom and a twin / single bedroom, which can be converted into a double / full size bed. There is a 3rd bedroom with a day bed suitable for a child as well. This room can function as a kids’ bedroom or reading room/ study. Also upstairs is a family bathroom with a tub. There is an enclosed courtyard outside with a dining table for al fresco eating in the summer. There is a separate laundry room. Portscatho is a pretty village that is popular with families. The house is a minute’s walk to the beach, which has gentle waves and lots of rock pools for paddling. Directly above the beach is Tatams coffee hut with hot chocolates and custard tarts. There are plenty of other child-friendly beaches in walking distance. The house is equipped with toys and books for young children, including a travel crib, high chair and a stair gate. Children will love the fun blackboard beside the kitchen and the bright colorful furnishings. This cottage is deliberately not decorated with typical beachy stripes and anchors. Instead it features a wealth of color, with bold contrasts in materials and prints. Pale Scandinavian-style wooden floors and large windows throughout give the house a light and bright feel. Design aficionados will recognize pieces throughout the house such as String shelves, Bordallo Pinheiro ceramics, Friso Kramer dining chairs, Bonton beds, Martino Gamper stools and furnishings from Le Monde Sauvage. Kitchenware is mostly Le Creuset, and porcelain imported from Portugal. Short-stays are available during low season, please enquire if you'd like to discuss.
