The Higler Shepherd's hut

This creation made by me is just a simple adult space surrounded by greenery and space. The hut provides both comfort innovation and artistic touches to be appreciated. You are fully self contained on a 12 volt system, everything is recycled and designed to be low impact but fully functional. The hut has a hot shower, Full Gas BBQ and Fire pit. The photos tell the story better than me- so enjoy them for a realistic feeling about the Higler hut. And, its the only one in the world! With a covered outdoor kitchen with Gas BBQ and burner most of the cooking will be outside, there is a single gas burner inside for wet days and the wood burner for cooking on in the chilly months. The hot shower is a covered alfresco experience-but not too risky! we ask you to bring your own towels-but let us know if its a problem. During COVID we have removed food items, we have also removed duvets/pillows and ask you to bring your own. If its a problem for you we will happily provide bedding but please ask. Outside there is a firepit and you can purchase logs to sit out in comfortable chairs and enjoy the dark night sky and celestial wonders. The compost loo is not to be worried about, clean and sweet smelling you'll wonder what the fuss is about. Mainly this is a space to chill, enjoy the setting and greenery, read in comfort, play a game, be together, explore and rejuvenate. Guest have access to the hut, their private large lawn and other mown walkways through the fields. I will always show you how the cabin works and help if you want to plan your time here. This is a rural neighbourhood with great access to many exciting days out which cater for all tastes-just ask me. Come by BIKE! its an easy 40 min cycle from Polegate Station along the beautiful and safe Cuckoo trail. Equidistant from Polegate, Uckfield, and Stonegate train stations guests without transport tend to use Polegate as there is a taxi rank. There is a bus link to Horam where I can meet you. The area is well served by local taxi firms. We have a small selection of bikes and can advise on amazing traffic free cycle routes to Eastbourne and Heathfield. Winter, the hut is available apart from in really wet or cold weather. There is an element of outdoor living which you need to be prepared for winter and shoulder seasons. If booking in winter we will try and make showering in the house a possibility depending on other bookings.
