Cosy countryside retreat with private garden
Welcome to RETREAT 34, tucked around the back of a beautifully presented rural development, with open fields and countryside walks literally on your doorstep. Our 'Home from Home' tastefully converted large double garage, has a fully fitted kitchen, lounge, bedroom, wet-room, private patio garden with decking and raised planting. Set in a quiet rural location, the village of Langford has a selection of small shops, including an Indian restaurant, farm shop, chip-shop, pub and post office. An open-plan, fully fitted kitchen which includes a tower fridge/freezer, double oven, gas hob, microwave , full size sink, washing machine, Nespresso Virtuo coffee machine, kettle, toaster and a full range of cutlery and crockery. This leads into the lounge area containing a double recliner sofa, oak sideboard, nest of tables and wall mounted 32" smart tv which is connected to a Virgin Media tv system and wi-fi. Also in the open plan area is a folding dining table with a pair of comfortable dining chairs which easily doubles up as a dedicated workstation. Wi-fi is included and easily covers the whole property and garden space. The large bedroom has a kingsize bed with spring/memory foam mattress, bedside storage cabinets, tallboy drawer unit with vanity mirror over and a double wardrobe with hangers.A full length mirror completes the room. The wet-room incorporates a wash-basin with mirror, toilet, open shower area and large storage cabinet which houses an ironing board, iron and drying rack. The complete property has underfloor heating, with solid flooring in the kitchen/lounge area, carpet in the bedroom and non-slip vinyl flooring in the wet-room. French doors in the lounge lead to a small private patio garden with modern composite decking surrounded by raised beds filled with small shrubs and trees. On the decking you will find a bistro table and chairs where you can sit and relax with a coffee, tea or glass of wine on warmer days. A small gas BBQ can be provided for use during your stay at a small charge of £5 per week, payable at check in. Please let us know in advance if you would like use of the BBQ. The property is finished in muted colours throughout with a wallpaper feature wall in the lounge. Private off-road parking for a maximum of 2 cars on the driveway immediately in front of RETREAT 34 is included with your stay. Smoking is not permitted in or around the property. Access to the property can be gained via a private path with a key safe beside the front door. With RETREAT 34 being adjacent to our main property somebody is normally on hand to provide information about the local area, amenities, and provide additional assistance should you need it. We will provide a small pack of basics such as fresh milk, cereal, tea, coffee, biscuits and sugar, to welcome you to RETREAT 34. We have a very friendly and well behaved dog who will be happy to greet you should you meet him, but will not disturb you during your stay. Unfortunately due to potential allergies, pets are not permitted within the property. Langford is a village with many places of interest within the local area. RETREAT 34 is literally just a few steps from a bridle path leading out into the adjacent countryside. To the other side of the village are further country walks along the River Ivel towards Broom, where coffees and snacks can be taken at Jordans Mill, original home of Jordans cereal and cereal bars. In the opposite direction you have walks through to Henlow where Champneys Spa can be found. Langford itself has a garden centre with gift shop and coffee shop, Indian takeaway, chip shop, independent cafe, a couple of small general stores, public house and an Indian restaurant, which comes highly recommended. Within a 10 minute drive you will find Shuttleworth Museum park and gardens, where hangers containing vintage aircraft and vehicles can be found, with flying displays throughout the year. Woburn Abbey Safari Park, house and gardens are within 30 minutes drive. A similar distance is The Imperial War Museum at Duxford. Knebworth house and gardens is only 15 minutes away , this venue holds events throughout the year in its vast grounds. The historic market town of Hitchin is only a 15 minute drive away with a multitude of bars, restaurants, gift shops and high-end retailers. Milton Keynes, Cambridge, London and beyond are all easily accessible by either road or rail. The A1 is just 3 minutes drive from RETREAT 34. Main line stations at Biggleswade and Arlesey on the King's Cross line are just a 5 minute drive North and South from Langford, providing fast access to London in around 35 minutes. Cambridge City Centre is just a 23 mile drive across country, taking around 40 minutes. Biggleswade, our nearest larger town is a historical market town containing a retail park on its outskirts.
