Family house on the west coast with sea view

This house is rebuilt in the 1990’s into an all year around vacation home with a garden overlooking the water, just a quick stroll down the slope for a swim. The house is 83 m2 and as a guest you are welcome to use the entire house including the private parking space, as well as the small extra sleeping cabin just next to the main house. If you are allergic to cats this house is unfortunately not for you. This is a family friendly house overlooking the water passage between Svanesund, on the island Orust about 50 km north of Gothenburg, and the mainland. Entering through the glass veranda, an open plan ground floor with a combined dining room, living room and kitchen is located around the open fireplace, as well as a double bedroom and a bathroom. The first floor holds the master bedroom with an en suite bathroom, and a lounge- and tv-area including a double sofa bed. In the basement you will find the laundry and a small workshop. Outside there is an open garden with apple trees where the kids can play. The yard is facing the mainland and on a summer evening you can sit on the roof top balcony and enjoy your barbecue in the sunset and then continue your evening down below on the sheltered glass veranda. During colder evenings the open fire place in the living room will keep you warm. The house has its own private car park. You will have access to the whole house, the sleeping cabin and the spacious garden. To get to the island, you can go over the bridge via the next island Tjörn, or go straight from the main land with the free local ferry leaving every twenty minute. Running 24/7 but less regularily at night time. The neighbourhood offers a small but fairly well equipped food store, the mandatory pizzeria with a flee market next door. To get a bigger variety you can take the ferry to the mainland and a 10 minute drive to Stenungsund and the mall with the Swedish Systembolag - the place for wine and such. The nature and the surroundings offer many options of beaches, small fishing villages and car free islands like Kärringön and Mollösund worth visiting when feeling like a change of scenery. Close by you’ll find one of the cultural paths, Kultehamn. A four km walk in the forest along a historic trail painting the picture of life in the late 19th, early 20th century. In summer time flee markets open up all over the island. Just drive or ride around without a plan and you’ll find them. About 5 km from Svanesund you’ll find the Café Solegården open during the summer season. A cultural high light is the Pilane sculpture park on the next island Tjörn. On ancient graveyards, on fields and cliffs, you roam around amongst sculptures placed in the natural landscape. On the same neighbouring island in Skärhamn you’ll find the Nordiska akvarellmuseet Varying kinds of exhibitions are shown in fantastic surroundings and great workshops for kids are held in the weekends. You can get to the house with public transport, by bus from Stenungsund and ferry, then walk for about ten minutes. The most convenient though is having a car to get around. Recycling is important on the island. Plastic has a bin on its own. Paper, cardboard, metal and glas has to be sorted seperately left for us to take care of and the rest goes into the second bin.
