The Cob is a self contained, newly renovated characterful detached annex to the left of our house, The Old Bakery. It is adjacent to well established "The Bakehouse" Airbnb. Situated in an idyllic quiet position overlooking historic Thriplow's village green. Just a minute's walk and you reach the award winning community run gastro pub or well stocked village shop. Only 8 miles from Cambridge, so perfect for visiting or working in the city or the surrounding area and 2 miles from IWM Duxford. The Cob is adjacent to "The Bakehouse" Airbnb which offers accommodation for a further 2 adults. On the property we also have "The Barn", suitable for 2 adults. We have renovated The Cob with loving care and attention to detail and to the highest possible standard - specifically with Airbnb in mind. It is characterful and historic having large original beams and Georgian windows. The accommodation is a spacious open plan single storey barn. It includes a King size bed, a Roberts radio, a sofa, table/chairs (a perfect workspace), wall mounted Smart TV, a kitchen area (with built in oven & hob, microwave, fridge, washer-dryer, Nespresso coffee machine) and an en suite bathroom (with large walk in shower, basin, toilet and mirror with shaver socket). The black park style gate is the entrance to our property and The Cob & The Bakehouse Airbnb annexes. The Cob has its own exclusive parking space, to the right, on the driveway in front of our house. Guests have full access to the area immediately outside The Cob. There is an outside table and chairs so you can sit and watch the world go by, perhaps whilst enjoying your coffee and complimentary 'Welcome pack' breakfast. (We provide milk, coffee, tea (inc herbal), muesli/granola, yoghurts, spread, jam & marmalade - more than enough for your first night!). We also have a Tandem bicycle which guests of The Cob, The Bakehouse and The Barn are welcome to borrow, perhaps to explore the countryside or to visit the numerous local pubs, cafes and restaurants. The Old Bakery rear garden is private with no access for Airbnb guests. Richard and I live in The Old Bakery, next to The Cob, and so we’re normally on hand to help and chat as much or as little as you'd like. You should find it easy to get hold of us as we run a business from home, so we're used to constantly checking emails and texts too. There is also a file in The Cob with local information, including some suggested walks directly from your front door through to information about shops, places to eat, transport options and, of course, what to see and do in Cambridge. Thriplow is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 and is laid out as a loose figure-of-eight of lanes with a lattice of footpaths and green fields between. While the oldest dated cottage is 1687, there is much that is older and deep seated in the past too. The footpaths take you through fields, woods and orchid meadows; in spring, the whole village is awash with daffodils. Indeed Thriplow is famous for its annual Daffodil Weekend and Country Fair: it’s a village fair that attracts up to 10,000 visitors for the weekend who come to enjoy a range of rural attractions, stalls and village hospitality and is reported as being one of the best loved charity events in Cambridgeshire! The village is an active and thriving community with many village groups, interests and activities, including a cricket club where you can watch cricket during the summer. Our pub (the award-winning The Green Man) is just a 2 minute walk from The Bakehouse, across The Green. It is a community owned pub that is run by Alex and Mike and they’ve built up an amazing reputation in the local area for offering both fresh, seasonal food and Tapas too. If you’d like to eat there during your stay we recommend you book. Thriplow also has a community run well-stocked Village Shop, where you can drop in for a coffee and perhaps fresh baked croissants or pastries too. Thriplow is just 8 miles south of Cambridge (5 miles from Trumpington Park & Ride) and 8 miles north east of Royston. We’re only 2 miles from Duxford Imperial War Museum and Junction 10 of the M11. Stansted airport is an approximately 20 minute drive. Whittlesford and Foxton train stations are very close (just 3-4 miles - both offering trains into Cambridge and London). What else is nearby? Sagentia, Harston (3.6 miles), Addenbrooke's Hospital site (7 miles), The Wellcome Genome Campus, Hinxton (6 miles), Granta Park (7 miles), Babraham Institute (8 miles) and Chesterford Research Park (9 miles) Local attractions: Imperial War Museum Duxford (2 miles) RSPB Fowlmere Nature Reserve (2 miles) Docwra's Manor Gardens, Shrepreth (3.6 miles) Teacake Traditional Tea rooms at Shrepreth (3.6 miles) Shepreth Wildlife Park (3.5 miles) Cambridge - University, Punting, FitzWilliam museum, Botanic Gardens, Shopping, Theatre (8 miles - 20 minutes' drive or 10 minutes by train) Royston Picture Palace, cinema (7.6 miles) Royston Cave (7.7 miles) Wimpole Hall: house, farm, gardens and park (National Trust) (9 miles) Grantchester Village & Tea Rooms (9 miles) Wandlebury Country Park (9 miles) Audley End House & Gardens (English Heritage) (11 miles) Saffron Walden, medieval market town (11 miles) Chilford Hall Vineyard (14 miles) Cambridge American Cemetary & Memorial (12 miles) Anglesey Abbey, Gardens & Lode Mill (National Trust) (18 miles) Newmarket Racecourses (18 miles) Palace House – National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art (Newmarket) (18 miles) Denny Abbey & Farmland Museum (18 miles) Henry Moore Studios & Gardens (26 miles) Ely Cathedral (27 miles) Bury St Edmunds, historic market town dating back to 1080 (33 miles) Although the maximum stay that you can book is 4 weeks, if you would like to stay longer than this it may well be possible - please contact me to discuss.
