Lock Keepers Cottage
The Lock Keepers Cottage is a rather special place nestled beside the Grand Union Canal in the heart of the Warwickshire countryside. Recently refurbished, the cottage has been part of our family for nearly 50 years. Whether you’re looking to explore the local area or simply want a peaceful place to escape to, we hope our cottage will provide the perfect getaway for you. This historic property comprises of two double bedrooms, a smaller bedroom with a single bed, a family bathroom, lounge with log burner, kitchen and a cosy dining area. There is a dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, fridge, TV, hairdryer, towels, an iron and Wi-Fi at the property. The cottage also boasts a beautiful orchard garden overlooking the top lock along the Grand Union Canal. It's important to note that the cottage is a part of a working boatyard during the day. There is an air of excitement as boat owners and holidaymakers arrive to set off on their cruising adventures. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and locally sourced provisions are available from the chandlery next door and local artists display their work in the small on-site gallery. The seating on our lockside decking area provides the perfect spot for watching the world go by. Guests have sole use of the cottage, that includes a small walled garden and our orchard garden. You are also welcome to explore our woodland walks and SSSI fields. These fields are afforded this protected status due to the rare and endangered wild flowers and grasses that grow there. If you require assistance, our marina office and chandlery are open 7 days a week between 09:00 - 17:30. If you message me via AirBnB either I will respond personally, or Steven my office manager will reply on my behalf. About 5 miles from the historic town of Southam and close to the picturesque village of Napton-On-The-Hill, The Lock Keepers Cottage occupies an enviable location beside the Grand Union Canal. The local area is well served for quality gastro pubs and restaurants - The Kings Head and the Folly at Napton, The Butchers Arms at Priors Hardwick and The Bell Ladbrooke to name but a few. Alternatively, perhaps you would prefer a cosy night in, cooking up a storm for friends and loved ones or as I like to do, nip into Southam to pick up something delicious from one of the excellent takeaways. If it's a bit of culture you are after, there are many attractions nearby, including Warwick Castle, Althorp House, Stratford upon Avon, Compton Verney...the list goes on! You will need a car or taxi to explore the local area, visit restaurants or go shopping. Please note that access to the bedrooms is via a steel spiral staircase. No smoking No Pets
