The Haybarn is a luxurious and peaceful holiday retreat in the grounds of a Grade II listed farmhouse in the beautiful Rutland village of Barrowden. Ideal for families or a small group of friends to relax in total comfort after a day exploring Rutland, it’s beautiful countryside, Rutland Water and market towns. The ground floor is open plan, light and airy with a well equipped kitchen (Nespresso machine and pods, dishwasher, washing machine, kettle, toaster, oven), opening onto a spacious dining and lounge area with ample space for up to six people to relax. In summer the bifold doors open the whole back wall onto a private courtyard garden whilst in winter the log burner (basket of logs provided) becomes the focal point of the room. There is a dresser well stocked with ample crockery and glasses, as well as a Smart TV and Beats speaker. Upstairs the first bedroom (king size bed) has an open plan en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has far reaching views across to the church and the Welland valley and can either be offered as a twin or with a king size bed. There is also space for an additional mattress in this room, and either room can accommodate a cot (we have one available). The beds are extremely comfortable and made up with quality linen. The second stylish bathroom has a bath with shower over. Outside, the private courtyard garden has a dining table, seating area with cushions, candles and large gas BBQ. Guests have their own designated parking area for two cars. Barrowden is a picture postcard village, complete with village green and duckpond. There is a fantastic pub (the Exeter Arms) in the heart of the village with outdoor bar and BBQ in summer. There is also a community shop and recreation ground with children’s play area, cricket and football pitches. We have numerous walks locally and a river to explore. Rutland is well known for being the smallest county in England but delivers greatly on activities, pubs, outdoor life and history. The Haybarn is situated between 3 market towns; Uppingham (5 miles), Stamford (8 miles), Oakham (10 miles) - all lovely towns to explore, well equipped with independent shops, cafes and bars. Stamford is famous for its Georgian buildings and Burghley Park and is often used as a film location. Further afield are Leicester, Cambridge and Peterborough. Rutland Water is one of the largest manmade lakes in Europe, and offers so much - bird watching, fishing, sailing, walking and cycling tracks around it’s 26 mile perimeter. In summer there is a beach, mini golf and and an inflatable Aquapark. Both Fineshade and Wakerley woods are on our doorstep with miles of walking and off road cycling tracks. Fineshade is particularly good for families with bike hire, cafe, children’s adventure play areas and child walking trails. In addition to our village pub there are many others in the surrounding villages including the Olive Branch at Clipsham which was this year voted Good Pub Guide Pub of the Year.
