We love the beautiful Peak District National Park that we live in and really enjoy sharing it with our guests. We are only a small holiday provider, with 2 separate cottages, so we are flexible and able to meet your individual needs. Our aim is to provide you with a holiday experience that is easy and relaxing and we are on hand to help with anything you may need. We can provide cots, bedding, night lights and high chairs at no additional cost, just let us know if you require them and we will have them ready for when you arrive. We will leave a welcome pack in your cottage that includes tea, coffee, milk, a bottle of wine and a home made cake. Let us know if you have any cake or wine preferences and we will do our best! As well as our beautiful accommodation the outside spaces and shared facilities are what really make a holiday stay at Butterton Moor House stand out. Probably our most popular facility is the wonderful warm pool, that never goes cold, and is perfect for swimming or just floating away the stresses of busy days out and about! The pool has a lovely seating area for non swimmers to sit and watch and a changing area and separate toilet. Pool availability is detailed in the Guest Access section. Off the pool area is our billiards room which houses a beautifully refurbished full sized antique snooker table and we have cues and chalk available for guests who would rather not bring their own. Both of our properties have private outdoor spaces, additionally we have a shared terrace with a wonderful pizza oven, a BBQ and an outdoor fireplace which is a perfect space for the long summer evenings. There is plenty of safe and contained outdoor space for children to run and play and for adults to sit and relax and we are adding to our facilities all the time. We want you to enjoy all that Butterton Moor House has to offer and so there are very few areas that are not accessible. We want all our guests to have comfortable, relaxing and safe holiday. The 2 holiday cottages at Butterton Moor House share some of the wonderful facilities on offer, such as the swimming pool, the pizza oven area and the billiards room. Guests are normally happy to agree times to use these areas between themselves. Generally we ask guests to use the shared facilities between the hours of 09:00 and 21:00, however, let us know if you would like to use any areas outside these times and we will be as accommodating as possible. The swimming pool is also used by our local community on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and therefore is not available between approximately 0900 and 1800 on these days, however you are free to swim before or after when the pool will be solely for our guests to use. The only areas not available to guests are the stable yard, where there is heavy farm machinery moving around, and the fields surrounding the property where our often unpredictable horses graze! Please NEVER feed the horses or ponies. Let us know if you would like to meet the animals. We are happy to introduce our guests to our more friendly horses and ponies and help our younger visitors give them a carrot! We have dogs in our family at Butterton Moor House; a beautiful black Labrador called Bandit, a red Labrador called Willa and 2 very naughty Dachshunds called Jazz and Elf. The dogs are not allowed into any holiday cottage accommodation, no matter how longingly they look at you, but if you would like to meet our dogs let us know. All our holiday accommodation and facilities are totally non smoking but If you need to smoke please ask for ash trays and only smoke outside but well away from the stable yard area. Please make sure all cigarettes are fully extinguished before leaving them. The Brennan family live in Butterton Moor House, on the same site, and can be available for help and advice whenever needed. Our beautiful guest accommodation is private and self contained so you can be assured of a quiet and relaxing holiday but if you have forgotten something or need a recommendation for a local pub or day out you only have to ask! The fabulous facilities at Butterton Moor House and the stunning Peak District scenery provide the perfect holiday setting for relaxing, walking, cycling, visiting historic houses or some adrenaline activity at Alton Towers! The beautiful historic houses of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are close by and the pretty market towns of Bakewell, Leek and Ashbourne are ideal for antique hunting. There are many local markets to visit and a wonderful Farmers Market, full of local produce, in Leek every month. You could spend a day just meandering through the picture postcard villages, enjoying excellent local pubs and restaurants or maybe go horse riding where you can explore the many miles of bridle paths. There are many off road cycle trails both locally and throughout the Peak District or for the more adventuress head to Alton Towers which is only 15 minutes away, or Go Ape and swing from ropes strung high up in the forest! There are many lesser known local attractions in the area that are well worth a visit; the Heights of Abraham cable car in Matlock takes you to the top of the gorge where the views are wonderful and a cafe, a super play area and a mine visit provide entertainment. The Blue John mines, in Castleton, is a real experience; descend into the mine down the steps then clamber into a boat at the bottom to be taken through the amazing tunnels and caverns. There really is something for everyone in the Peak District and families with children of all ages will find a host of activities and places to visit within the wonderful national park. One visit is never enough! We are lucky enough to live in a beautiful rural location with many walks and public footpaths close to the house. There are local cycle trails and beautiful villages to explore locally either on foot or by bicycle. There is a local pub within easy reach offering exceptional food and hospitality for lunch and dinner. Slightly further afield there are many pubs in beautiful village settings within a very short car journey away. Butterton Moor House is in a very rural location and a car is definitely needed to make the most of your visit. The nearest mainline train stations are at Stoke on Trent and Derby with a smaller station in Buxton. We have no local bus routes but there are friendly taxi companies available if needed.
