Lily Barn is a newly renovated, one-bedroom barn conversion with a private, wood-fired hot tub available from spring through to autumn. The barn has been styled in a minimalistic and modern way and its location makes this an ideal retreat for couples looking for a base from which to explore the beautiful Cotswolds, Cheltenham and Malvern Hills. The open plan design is spacious and airy with a large bedroom and bathroom, perfect for two. The hot tub is available from 01 May to 31 October. Please note that additional guests above the maximum capacity are not permitted to stay overnight. IMPORTANT Hot tub usage: The hot tub is only available for guests' use from the first day of May to the last day of October, and therefore will be closed from the first day of November to the last day of April (irrespective of the year). Please bring your own towels for use with the hot tub. Lily is the largest of three barn conversions - sitting at the end of the row - in the quiet hamlet of Gretton Fields. The simple, modern styling will appeal to those looking for an easy place to return to after days spent discovering the delights of the Cotswolds. Set at the end of a short residential drive, Lily Barn offers clean lines and a modern, polished style with views across the neighbouring property to tree-clad hills. Inside this single-level accommodation, you’ll find all the practical creature comforts needed for a self-catering holiday. There’s a generous open plan living space, including a kitchen, and dining area, and a large bedroom with a spacious bathroom with a bathtub and a separate walk-in shower. The high ceilings have Velux windows ensuring plenty of natural light, whilst outside there is a small patio area with a bistro table and chairs where you can sit and enjoy your morning coffee or an evening drink. To the side of Lily Barn is a wood-fired hot tub, screened for privacy, and a great spot to relax and rest weary legs that have been walking the Cotswold trails. Lily Barn has pale wood-effect flooring throughout softened with rugs in the living area and bedroom. The double-height ceiling adds to the contemporary design. Kitchen Area: Immediately in front of you is an L-shaped kitchen area. The sleek units house the electric oven and hob, microwave (not shown) fridge with freezer compartment and a handy washer-dryer. Two Velux windows in the high ceiling provide plenty of natural light. Living-Dining Area: To the right is a spacious living area with a large chaise-longue style sofa for cosy nights in, complete with wooden occasional tables for resting your drink, and a smart TV. There’s a window to the front and two further Velux windows. A square table sits to one side with four stools, creating an adaptable dining space for guests. Bedroom: From the living area, there is a door to the spacious bedroom, which has a super-king size bed in front of a feature wall, which adds a gentle hint of lily-green colour to the room. There’s an alcove with hanging space along with bedside tables with reading lamps, a full-length, free-standing mirror, and a chest of drawers. The bedroom also boasts a smart TV. To one side a large window lets in natural daylight. Bathroom: The generously sized bathroom has a bathtub, large walk-in shower with two shower heads, de-misting mirror with shaving point, W.C and a handbasin. A large, frosted window to the side floods the room with light whilst the heated towel rail keeps it warm and toasty. The bathroom can be accessed from the bedroom and the main living area. Outside: Immediately outside the front door is a paved patio area with a table and chairs for two. A wooden portico runs the length of the barns making it possible to sit outside, even in inclement weather. To the side is a large, wood-fired hot tub, enclosed from view and for the sole use of guests staying in Lily Barn. Guests have full access to the barn and seasonal use of the hot tub from 01 May - 31 October. There is a designated parking space for two cars (parked end-to-end) for guests at Lily Barn on the righthand side at the end of the drive. The property manager is available if guests require assistance. Gretton Fields is a peaceful hamlet close to the charming town of Winchcombe and Sudeley Castle - one of the Cotswolds most popular attractions, both of which are within a ten-minute drive. The pretty Cotswold village of Broadway is eight miles away whilst the charms of Regency Cheltenham Spa are less than ten miles away. Supermarkets and Shopping: There is a Co-operative supermarket in Winchcombe (3.1 miles) and a Warner Budgens and a Co-op in Gotherington (4.5 miles). A large Tesco can be found in Bishops Cleeve (5.3 miles). Winchcombe also has a range of independent shops including Vale & Hills Family Butchers which offers fantastic, local meat on the town’s high street, and North’s Bakery for those in search of a fresh morning loaf or delicious goodies. Eating Out: • The Royal Oak at Gretton (1.4 miles) has a fabulous garden, and you might be lucky enough to catch the steam train puffing past on its way between Broadway and Cheltenham. • The Gardeners Arms in Alderton (1.4 miles) is a characterful thatched 16th Century pub offering good food in a lovely setting. • Ye Old Hobnails Inn (1.4 miles) this 15th Century inn offers a traditional country pub experience with open fires and low beams. • 5 North Street (3.1 miles) - Michelin-starred dining - in Winchcombe. • Wesley House (3.1 miles) - this Winchcombe-based restaurant offers exceptional dining in a 15th Century house. Walks: Gretton Fields is ideally located for some excellent walking, particularly around nearby Winchcombe, which is designated as a ‘walkers are welcome town’ a status only awarded to towns and villages that go above and beyond with their walking amenities. Alongside the 42-mile Winchcombe Way which loops in a figure of eight around the town, there is a 2.5-mile circular walk around Sudeley Castle. Head to the Cotswold AONB website’s Self-Guided Walks section for a wide choice of local walks. Places to Visit: • Sudeley Castle (3.7 miles) – historic home and resting place of Katherine Parr, Henry VIII’s last wife. • Winchcombe (3.1 miles) – a charming Cotswold town filled with boutiques, antique treasures, cafes, and old coaching inns. • Hailes Abbey (4.5 miles) – this former Cistercian abbey is a peaceful ruin, operated by the National Trust. • Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway (3.9 miles) – a volunteer operated heritage railway running between Cheltenham Spa and Broadway. • Regency Cheltenham Spa (9.6 miles) • Broadway (8.8 miles) – a pretty Cotswold village with a wide main street lined with Cotswold stone buildings. Head up the hill to Broadway Tower for outstanding views over the Vale of Evesham to the Malvern hills in the distance. Travel: Train - Ashchurch for Tewkesbury (6 miles) has services to/from Birmingham. Cheltenham Spa is (11.9 miles) with regular services from London Paddington. Please be aware, however, that the hot tub will not be heated for your arrival, wood is supplied for your use (hot tub takes approx. 3 hours to heat up). Please bring your own towels for use in the hot tub. -The entrance driveway is shared with residential houses, please only park in the designated parking space for Lily Barn. -At the time of photography (June 2021), the landscaping and planting to the front of Lily Barn are in their early stages of growth. -Directly opposite Lily Barn is a farm animal haulage yard. It is approximately 50 metres away with extra-high screening provided making it almost invisible to guests; however, some noise may be heard as vehicles come and go.
