Kea is a hidden gem in the Cycladic Islands and has its own unique style. As there are very few hotels on the island, private houses are rented out, most or all of them made of local stone. The island has 45 beaches, most of them accessible by boat. Kea is the ideal island for those that want to relax and have a great vacation. The villa is in a complex with 5 other houses, each with its own swimming pool. The villa, which is in the area of Mellisaki, is 5 kilometers from the harbor Korissia and 2 kilometers from the nearest beach Xyla. By the side of the complex there are steps leading to the sea. The property is on two levels, the ground floor has a large living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped open-plan kitchen, a dining area and a w.c. The first floor has a large master bedroom, with a fireplace and an en-suite bathroom., two more master bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. Near the swimming pool there is a guest house, which has a living room with a fireplace, an open-plan kitchen, a sleeping area ,a second bedroom (no window) and a bathroom. Leading off the living room is a large terrace with a swimming pool and two dining areas, from where one can sit and enjoy the glorious sunsets. Near the swimming pool is a shaded dining area with a BBQ and a fully equipped kitchen. Kea, also known as Tzia, is only a one hour ferry boat ride from Athens. The villa is in the area of Melissaki, 2 kilometers (7 minutes by car) from the Port of Kea. Melissaki is a residential area.rt of Kea you can find, 2 supermarkets, cafes, bars, restaurants, a pharmacy, a butchers, a fishmongers, ATM's, clothes shops an an ice cream parlor. Another 2 minutes and you will arrive at Vourkari, the picturesque marina, well known with the yachting crowd. Vourkari has several very well known fish restaurants/tavernas, some bars/clubs and some cafes. 5 minutes (by car) from the villa is the beach of Xyla its beautiful sandy beach and crystal clear waters. I recommend that you rent a car either at the airport or on the island. Kea is a very large island and if you want to visit the various beaches, you will definitely need one as you will to go shopping or to the restaurants. Some of the beaches have dirt roads, For these beaches you will need a 4 X 4,so it depends on how much you want to explore.
