Unique farmhouse apartment accessible for elderly
A freestanding farmhouse from 1920's surrounded by meadows. The unique guest apartment is located on the ground floor with an adjacent parking spot and a separate entrance. The guests are welcome to use the large spacious garden; take a stroll under the fruit trees, relax under an old oak tree or sunbathe in the greenhouse. The apartment (62m2) consists of a spacious bedroom and an en suite bathroom with a shower and a toilet, as well as a comfortable living room and open kitchen. The guests will use the long driveway in front of the farmhouse and will park their car in the separate open garage behind the farm, entering the apartment through the garden door into the living room and kitchen area. The living room and the kitchen offer wonderful views of the garden and the typical Frisian landscape. The bedroom is separated from the kitchen by a door and is a very large space, accessible for the disabled or less mobile. With a queen size bed, an antique commode, a writing desk and shelves filled with books, you'll have everything you need for a comfortable and peaceful stay. The en suite bathroom offers a shower and a toilet, and there is practically no thresholds when entering each of these spaces, which makes it easier for the elderly guests. The host lives on the first floor in a different part of the farmhouse, offering the guests optimal privacy during their stay. The host will, of course, welcome the guests upon arrival and help the guests during the check-out, and is available for questions at all times. The village of Easterein (near Wommels) is located in the Green Hart of Friesland, also referred to as the Amsterdam Lake District. Friesland has one of the most typical landscapes in The Netherlands with green fields and beautiful skies filled with clouds in many shades and colours as one might observe in the old Dutch paintings. The farms in these area are known for the typical Frisian architecture, and the Frisians are famous for friendliness and good spirits. The tiny village of Easterein has a much valued local restaurant with an authentic interior and a good chef. For food shopping you'll only need to drive or cycle for 2 km to a fully equipped supermarket, a butchery or a fresh bakery. For day trips there is plenty of choice. From here you can visit all 11 towns of Friesland with typical architecture and interesting local sites. Sneek, Harlingen, Bolsward, and of course, Leeuwarden voted the cultural capital of Europe in 2019. In Sneek you can take a lake cruise to experience Friesland from its many waters, and there are plenty of sailing opportunities for those who will. Alternatively, take a short drive (10 km) to Franeker, to visit the oldest still working planetarium in the world. This accurately moving model of the solar system was built between 1774 and 1781 by the Frisian wool comber, Eise Eisinga. It is recommended to visit Friesland by car. There are some trains, but they do not ride everywhere, whereas there's always a parking spot available in towns and small villages. You're welcome to communicate with Johanna in Dutch (native), English (fluent), German (fluent) or French (basic).
