Elandsfontein Farm : Plane Tree Cottage

Charming country stay on Elandsfontein, away from the crowds but less than 45 minutes’ drive from either Pretoria or Johannesburg! The farm Elandsfontein has been in the family for six generations. Both our charming cottages are situated in the leafy gardens of the 140-year-old homestead, yet you can enjoy complete privacy. So, if you need peace and quiet to revitalise in true country style, surrounded by the activities, sounds and smells of a working farm, this is the right place for you! Plane Tree Cottage accommodates a couple. It comprises one bedroom with queen size bed, lounge with flat screen television, premium DSTV and fireplace; fully equipped kitchen with stove, fridge and microwave; separate bathroom as well as a charming outside shower under the trees. A mobile braai is available in the private courtyard, and we provide one free bundle of wood. Please note that this venue is not suitable for noisy parties! The cottage has a beautiful private courtyard with shady trees. Guests can go for walks/runs on our own and neighbouring farms. Horseriding on neighbouring farm can be arranged for experienced riders. We are happy to assist with any questions. Rietvlei Nature Reserve located next to our farm accommodates several plains grazers such as zebra, eland, hartebeest, springbuck, blesbuck, black wildebeest, buffalo and rhinos, and several of the plains predators, including cheetah, black-back jackal and serval. You might even get lucky and spot a porcupine or an otter or an aardvark or a huge wild boar! Of course, the wetlands and grasslands birdlife is abundant. Since it is relatively small one can do a half day trip and see quite a lot. Groenkloof Nature Reserve is about 25 km drive from us. Here one can go hiking, and within an hour walk among the game (antelope and giraffes). The game is tame, and one can get relatively close. Explore the cities of Pretoria and Johannesburg from here - we are within easy reach (30-45 min drive) of both. You will need a car to get around. We will gladly assist with directions should you want. We have implemented the following precautions to ensure the safety of our guests and staff: Each cottage has its own private space and interaction with other guests or our staff is not necessary. Guest parties will be spaced a minimum of three days apart to allow for thorough ventilation, cleaning and sanitation. Our staff is equipped with protective masks, gloves and clothing and has been fully trained.
