Have dinner at the legendary Crooked Billett restaurant in Stoke Row, or try the steak at The Greyhound pub in Peppard, about 5 minutes by car. Day trip to Oxford to wander the ancient colleges and hire a punt on the River Isis. Walk in the gorgeous bluebell woods around Highmoor (April & May). Lunch overlooking the Thames down the hill at The French Horn in Sonning. Attend the famous Henley Regatta and Henley Festival and now the Henley Literary Festival. Get tickets for the Hennessy Gold Cup race in Newbury in late November. Walk or cycle the beautiful & dramatic Ridgeway Path near Swyncombe. Shopping, theatre, golf, horses: In an area known for the best pubs in England, two to consider are the Little Angel in Henley town or The Bull on Bell street in Henley. Great local theatres within ten minutes. Shop in quaint boutique shops in lovely Marlow or Henley. In summer attend evening races at Royal Windsor Racecourse. Walk in Windsor Great Park and visit the famous school Eton which is next door. Try the wonderful little theatre at Sonning or the excellent Newbury theatre.
