Magical woodland hideaway Brighton,Gatwick 25 mins

Remote 17th century cottage, sited on an ancient Sussex iron working site, surrounded by woodlands, fields and small river. Accommodation is a semi-detached, self-contained annex to main cottage with own entrance. It has a bedroom with 4'6"double bed open plan with curtain divide to the sitting room which has an optional fold up single bed on request, wood burning stove, compact kitchen, tiny shower room, WC, without bath. Conservatory overlooks wild garden and woodlands. The property is beautifully rustic and charming, it has been used on a number of occasions as a location for film and photo shoots and is a truly unique and characterful location. The annex is a quiet inspirational space (no television), great for relaxing, unwinding, yoga or just being laid back. The garden and woods are full of birds and wildlife and there are many footpaths through the surrounding fields and woods. You will have a small private patio where you can enjoy a cup of tea immersed in the sounds of the surrounding wildlife. We have two friendly dogs so visiting dogs are welcome, by prior arrangement. The annexe, garden, woodland, surrounding fields and footpaths. Mackerels Cottage is situated in a remote situation, your entrance is just for you. Please note: we are happy to interact with you as much or as little, as you would like, but from a distance during the pandemic. We take cleaning very seriously and have created longer gaps for extra, extra airing and cleaning between guests during Covid 19. The main cottage has been our family home for over 40 years, and we have been delighted to welcome many visitors to the annex during this time. We are on site to deal with any queries you may have, and to point you in the direction of the many wonderful walks in the surrounding area. The nearest village is Cuckfield, with a variety of shops and three cafes. Ockingdon Manor Hotel is great for a posh tea or dinner. There is a good Indian restaurant and three pubs that serve food. Ten minutes away is Jeremy’s superb restaurant and the wonderful Café Elvera. Both are situated in Borde Hills’ beautiful Gardens which also hosts theatre performances and exhibitions. Within striking distance are Nyman’s, Leonards Lee and Wakehurst wonderful gardens, Charlston House. Despite the remote and secluded feel of the cottage, we are a mere 20 minute walk to the village of Cuckfield, and a 25 minute drive from Gatwick airport. Haywards Heath railway station is only a 15 minute drive from us. Haywards Heath is a 50 minute train journey from London Victoria, or 20 minutes on the train from Gatwick. Brighton is 15 minutes by train from Haywards Heath station, or a 30 minute drive from the Cottage.
