Highfield Cottage in West Hallam makes the ideal place for a relaxing break for two in the peace of the countryside. The moment you drive down the private driveway and reach this detached cottage you will realise your somewhere special. The perfect place to unwind in this comfortable cottage boasting many creature comforts. The open plan living/dining area is also separated by a breakfast bar leading to the well-equipped Kitchen. The open plan light and airy feel of the living area is a delight with patio doors leading to the parking area and just a few steps further to the garden. On the first floor is a spacious bathroom with a powerful shower over the bath to enjoy. Then lead on to the bedroom with many large windows letting the light flood in to this thoughtfully furnished room. You will also benefit from your very own dressing area! The outside of this property is beautiful with a patio seating area shielded by a wonderful cottage garden where you can enjoy the peace and quiet, and perhaps hear the odd bird singing. As a guest you have full access to the whole cottage and its garden with seating area, with ample parking next to the property. We live in the adjacent cottage so are on hand if you need anything during your stay. The cottage is within easy reach of the town centre of Belper with the World Heritage site of Derwent Mills, the gateway to the stunning beauty of the Peak District National Park. You can enjoy the riverside walks of the Manifold Valley and Dovedale, why not visit the famous Chatsworth House , Haddon Hall and Keddleston Hall close by. The Heights of Abraham is a must at Matlock Bath and the wonderful town of Bakewell with its pudding shops should not be missed. Closer by you will not be short of things to do with Derby and Nottingham city centres within easy reach, as well as the famous Donnington Park, Crich Tramway Village and for the more adventurous, lets not forget Alton Towers. We have plenty of options for Golf in the area, the courses closest are Morley Hayes, Breadsall priory & Horsley lodge. The cottage is set back approximately 200 meters from the road so you will not be disturbed by any road noise. The village of West Hallam has a few shops located together including a Tesco express, Takeaway food outlets and The Punchbowl (Pub/Restaurant) less than 1 mile away. Highfield Cottage is a perfect destination to enjoy at any time of the year A car is recommended if your wanting to explore the area although we are on a bus route between Derby & Ilkeston with a bus stop near our driveway. From Ilkeston train Station we are 4.4 Miles away which would take around 10 minutes by taxi. From Derby train station we are 7.5 miles away which will take less than 20 minutes by taxi. From Nottingham train station we are 12.5 miles away and will take around 30 minutes by taxi. We include a welcome basket which includes some Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate & fresh milk to get you started so you don't have to worry about stocking up with the basics. If you like to have an espresso in the morning there is an Nespresso machine for you to use. Toiletries are provided and include shampoo, conditioner, body wash & hand wash. There is a Hairdryer so no need to pack one. Wifi internet is provided free of charge and there is also a HD Smart TV connected to the internet for use with Netflix or Amazon prime video (if you have an account). We have facilities to store your bikes securely if you want to bring them along with you. If your staying with us for longer than a couple of days you may want to do some washing so there is a washing machine with built in dryer, iron and ironing board.
