Wooden cabin by river in rural Leicestershire.
The Vine Cabin is a hand built snug insulated wooden cabin with woodburner, within sight and sound of the River Wreake where you can use our canoes . Sleeps up to 5 (2 in bunks), basic cooking facilities. Canoe building holidays by arrangement. The built in bunk can take 2 people ( increasing the capacity to 6, but they need to be friendly!!). Please bring sleeping bags for the built in bunk (the other beds have bedding provided) There is a double bed with a single bunk above, plus a single bed and a further built in bunk ( which can take 2 children) . Both the bunks are close to the ceiling and are accessible only if you are pretty agile. Please bring sleeping bags if you intend to use the built in bunk. There is a woodburning stove, and some firewood is provided. Additional firewood can be purchased at £5 /bag or you are welcome to bring your own ( provided it is dry) Have a go in our canoes on the river which runs right by the property. In the summer we offer Canoe Building Holidays by arrangement. ( see Birchcanoes) In addition to the Vine Cabin we have another cabin ( very different from the Vine Cabin) plus a Yurt and a Tiny House Trailer, so you might well encounter other guests, although with 2.5 acres here, there's plenty of space. You will be able to use the canoes on our river. There is also a tree house close to the cabin, with a door at the bottom of the staircase. Please bolt this after use so parents can decide if they want their children to go up there. Children need to be supervised on the river and the tree house especially. There is a "Futility Room" where you can use the washing machine and large tumble dryer, just leave £2 on each machine if you use it. There is an electric car charging point where we "currently charge" ( no pun intended) £5 for an overnight charge. All our electricity is from green sources ( wind power from the grid, plus 10kW solar array) You can keep yourself to yourself, or you can come and ask us if you need anything, our house is on the same property, just 50 metres from the cabin. I am particularly keen to hear your suggestions about the cabin and things which would make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. You are always welcome to take a canoe paddling on the quiet river near the cabin. Lovely leafy valley, nice pub just a mile down the road in Hoby ( the Blue Bell). Leicester is a vibrant multicultural city Melton Mowbray is a traditional market town , famous for Pork Pies and Stilton Cheese, beer, cheese and choc fests etc.. The 5a bus between Leicester and Melton Mowbray stops just 500 metres from the cabin, on the A607. Trains from Syston ( 3 miles) and Melton ( 6 miles). I can sometimes be available to meet you from the station ( just ask) If you like basic accommodation in a rural setting, you will love it here. However, if you are looking for Travelodge or Premier Inn, we are NOT it!! You are welcome to use our canoes on the river here. We have an electric vehicle charging point available ( currently £5 for an overnight charge)
