Shepherds Hut hideaway in the South Downs
Our Shepherds Hut is nestled on the edge of the South Downs National Park & is within easy reach of Brighton. Our cosy well equipped hut provides a bolt hole for a romantic mini break, nearby pubs include The Ginger Fox & The Shepherd & Dog, both serving incredible seasonal food. We have wonderful walks on our doorstep & acres of land to explore. We hope you’ll love our hut with the wildlife & ancient woodland surrounding it & take the opportunity to switch off, sit back & relax around the fire. Our hut is set on the outskirts of an ancient bluebell woodland and surrounded by open fields, our hand built hut offers a unique experience for travellers away from all the hustle & bustle of modern day life. With views out to the pond, woods and fields, with the farm in the distance. The hut benefits from a comfortable double bed to curl up in after a long day, with storage beneath to tuck away your suitcases. Bed linen is provided, along with a small selection of books, magazines and games including scrabble. Table and two chairs provided, along with crockery, cutlery, chopping board, mugs, wine and water glasses. Perfect for a light bite that you may have purchased from the near by Farm Shop, brought with you, or made during your stay. There is an off grid kitchen located next to the hut for guests to use, this includes a gas hob, pots, pans and utensils. Cooking oil is provided, along with 10 litres of water, washing up bowl, soap, dish cloth and tea towel. Kindling, chopped wood, newspaper and fire lighters are included for the log burner and fire pit. We provide guests with a breakfast hamper, this includes fresh eggs from our chickens, bread, butter, milk and jam. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements so we can substitute items. Compost loo located at the opening of the woods. During your stay you'll have the fields and woods to wander and are able to walk through the farm to gain access to the lane which leads you to further country walks. I love meeting and chatting to our guests and am more than happy to offer recommendations on things to do nearby. Our cottage is few minutes walk away from the hut so if guests need anything or have any questions i'm happy for them to pop over or drop me a text. I am the third generation of my family to live on the farm & I couldn't imagine being anywhere else. I hope you love the area as much as me. We're extremely lucky to be in the Sussex countryside, but a 15 minute bus ride into Brighton City if the mood takes you. We have two fantastic pubs less than a miles walk away, set in idyllic locations serving outstanding food, traditional ales & offering the odd cider festival or two. There is a map provided in the hut with walking directions. Plenty of parking available (you have the whole field). Bus (#17) to/from Brighton goes past our farm every half hour and only takes 15 minutes to get into the city centre. Hassocks train station is an 8 minute taxi ride & there's a Sainsbuy's Local next to the station if you want to pick up some food & drink supplies for your stay. In winter please bring a pair of old shoes/wellies as the field we cross to get to the shepherds hut can get muddy. I would hate for anyone to ruin their best suede shoes!
