The accommodation is a 2 bedroom first floor flat with kitchen, cosy living area, and bathroom, above our home on the ground floor. You share our front door, but access the flat through a door to the stairs immediately on entering the hall. Sleeps 4. Excellent broadband. It was the hayloft above an old carriage house, with stables either side of a courtyard.. A peaceful setting in pretty village, with a pub, a short drive to Diss. We live on the ground floor. Large garden, good parking. The entire first floor of our house. A door off the hall leads to the staircase. There is a spacious landing, off which are 2 bedrooms, an open plan kitchen/ living room area, and a bathroom with spa bath and shower. The living room area has a large HD TV, with freeview channels, sofa, and armchairs. There is a recently installed kitchen with cooker, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. with plenty of utensils, pots, pans and crockery/cutlery. Guests can also use our washing machine, tumble dryer, on request. The stairs to the first floor are immediately next to the front door on the right. We provide our guests with the digital code for the front door lock providing unlimited access during your stay. We have a large lawned front garden, which guests are welcome to use, with treehouse, trampoline and climbing frame/swing for the children's use (at your own risk). We shall usually be at home on the ground floor during your stay and will be pleased to help with any queries, but are aware that guests may prefer to be left to enjoy their stay without interference, so we will leave you alone unless you request assistance. We can provide information about local places of interest, pubs, restaurants, transport etc. We can provide a high chair, travel cot and an assortment of children's toys and books on request. Gissing is a small village about 5 miles from the market town of Diss. Whilst here is no shop in Gissing, there is a small deli at the Burston Crown in the next village 2 miles away. Gissing has a lively traditional village pub ( a 5 minute stroll away) which serves typical pub food (booking is advisable) as well as real ales. In the next village, Burston, (2 miles) is a gastro pub, slightly more expensive, but the food is lovely. It also has a nice garden. Again, we would advise booking. There are various other good pubs in the surrounding villages. Diss has a variety of pubs, cafes and restaurants, and a selection of takeaways which will deliver. The nearest shops/supermarkets are in Diss and Long Stratton, about 10 minutes away by car. Diss is famous for the Mere, a lake in the middle of the town with an adjacent park. There are numerous attractions further afield, from Snetterton motor racing track, Banham Zoo, Center Parcs, Newmarket, Southwold, Aldeburgh and the coast, the Norfolk Broads, and of course the historic cities of Norwich and Bury St Edmunds. It is an ideal area for walking and cycling. Whilst there is a bus service from Diss to Norwich which goes through the village, and Diss is on the main rail line from London to Norwich, we suggest that a car is essential. We have ample parking and can provide covered space for bicycles. There are 2 double beds and a single. We can provide an additional trundle bed on request, but there is only really room for 4 guests in comfort. We provide a welcome pack of breakfast cereals, home made bread, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, butter, jam and marmalade, cake and biscuits. There are some lovely pubs serving great food in Gissing and the surrounding area, Gissing is a delightful village, perfect for walking or cycling or just enjoying the peace of the countryside. We are only a short drive to Diss (5 miles), which has a weekly market, good supermarkets, The Mere, a large lake in the centre of town, and the 'Heritage Triangle' an area with lots of interesting independent shops and cafes. We have 2 cats and a dog (spaniel). We would appreciate it if guests did not smoke or vape whilst in the accommodation.
