Characterful Cottage in Bleasby
Notown Cottage is our family home, built in 1810, however your lounge & mezzanine bedroom with ensuite shower room are a spacious contemporary addition. You have your own entrance, with key, to your private wing of the house, including a sunny space to sit outside. Off-road parking, free WIFI and hot drink facilities are available. The village pub & quaint tearooms are just a few minutes walk away. We've lived here for over 20 years & would love to share our knowledge of the area with you. We are delighted to offer a wing of our family home for you to enjoy. It includes a spacious lounge, dining area with comfy, soft corner sofa for you to collapse in front of the TV or with a book at the end of your day. There's a huge table that can be used as a work/office desk. Its also where we serve your home-cooked breakfast. The unique feature of this space is your mezzanine bedroom and ensuite that benefits from 5 metres of floor-to-ceiling height windows so you can gaze at the stars, or be mesmerised by floating clouds. The windows mean there is lots of light (we provide silk eye masks for those who require them). In the winter months you will be kept warm and toasty with underfloor heating, allowing you to wander in bare foot on gorgeous slate tiles. Your French doors open out on to a private decked area which you are free to use to soak up the sun. You are most welcome to join us outside for a glass of wine when the sun is shining. You have your own private access through French doors directly into your accommodation. You have a kettle to make hot drinks, however, if you need anything further I am often to be found in the kitchen adjacent to your space, so feel free to ask. Bleasby is a pretty village boasting many public footpaths and walks around the surrounding countryside. The River Trent is in walking distance, with a relaxing riverside walk interspersed with obligatory pub halt for lunch. A ten minute drive away is the historic town of Southwell with its famous Minster, which also benefits from numerous independent shops, and eating places, including a deli with pretty outdoor terrace. The market town of Newark is a little further and is famous for its antique shops and auctions. The lively vibrant city of Nottingham is about a 35 minute drive away depending on the time you travel (it can be longer during rush hour). This is where you will find our restaurant French Living, which is somewhat of a Nottingham institution having been around for more than 20 years! Bleasby has a train service which takes you into central Nottingham, or in the other direction to the market town of Newark, or a little further to the cathedral city of Lincoln. Please ask for help if you want to use public transport - my son is an expert! If I am free, I am happy to pick up from railway stations and take you out and about so you can enjoy the area.
