VILLA MENIES -A Family Destination in Countryside

VILLA MENIES is a large traditional house, 4 kms from the seaside, with 3 bedrooms,3 bathrooms,a fully equipped kitchen,an outdoor playground, a paddling pool,gardens with herbs, and amazing views of the village and the mountains. It offers full privacy and all the amenities- ideal for families,groups up to 6 people.Free parking and wi-fi available. Located in the traditional village of Rodopou, Kolymbari,a short drive from the famous beaches of Balos, Falassarna ,Elafonisi and Menies. THE VILLA FACILITIES Set on a hillside in the centre of Rodopou village in Chania, Villa Menies is a large traditional Cretan house that can accommodate up to 6 people. The house has got several patios in different levels, where while sunbathing, one can admire the magnificent views over the village and the mountains. On the ground floor, there is a spacious sitting/dining area with a fully equipped kitchen with a cooker, a microwave, a fridge, a washing machine, a coffee maker, a toaster and all the kitchen utensils needed to prepare your meals. Our quests can also relax on the comfortable sofas enjoying T.V. programmes on the satellite T.V. next to the cozy fireplace during cooler nights. The firewood is provided free of charge. For our younger quests, there are books, toys, as well as a high chair for their meals and a baby cod available. On the ground floor, there is also a second sitting room, that offers peace and quietness for those who want to stay connected on the internet and work on their laptop, a bedroom with twin beds and a large bathroom with a cabin. A pretty wooden staircase rises out of the living room, leading to the first floor, where there are 2 bedrooms with double beds and air conditioners and a bathroom with a bathtub and a washing machine. There is also a furnished balcony with a panoramic view of the village. A second bathroom with a shower is also available on this level. There is also a blow dryer, an iron, an iron board available for our quests. On the upper garden, there is a playground for our little quests with swings and a big slide decorated with Disney cartoons. All patios are furnished with garden furniture and sunbeds, so our quests can relax outdoors and enjoy the views and the aromas of the flowers and the plants . Our gardens are full of herbs, trees with lemons, apricots, vineyards that you are welcome to try its fruit or use when cooking your own meals. Villa Menies is ideal for people who seek to spend a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of the city and be close to nature. Our quests can enjoy the facilities of the whole house, the gardens with the herbs and the wine yards as well the terraces and patios of the house. My family and I would be more than happy to welcome you to our country house, mostly renovated and decorated by us, and willing to help you explore the beauty, the hospitality and the treasures of this wonderful island. If it is convenient for you, one of us can meet you at Chania airport and accompany you to the villa. On your arrival day, a small basket with home made sweets as well as a bottles of wine and raki of our production will be awaiting for you. We are ,also, available for any information or help 24 hours, 7 days per week INFORMATION ABOUT THE VILLAGE AND THE NEARBY AREA Rodopou village is one of the most picturesque villages of Kissamos prefecture in Chania. It lies on a long cape, 25 kms away from the city of Chania, Cape Spatha or as it is also known Cape of Peace and Friendship. The ancient city of Diktyna, dedicated to the Gretan goddess Diktyna, and t Menies beach are only 10 kms away. The village has three traditional cafes, a bakery that makes fresh bread daily, a small mini market where you can buy food ,fruit,drinks and a restaurant at the main square with traditional food. Rodopou is also famous for its agricultural products. It produces pure thyme honey, olive oil, wine and the traditional Cretan snaps, tsikoudia. You can buy any of them at a small shop at the village square. The nearest beach of Ravdouhas is 3 km away, while you may also visit the pebbly beach in kolimbari(5kms), all with transparent clear blue waters. Also, in Kolimbari there are banks, a big super market and many traditional local tavernas that serve fresh fish and sea food. The famous beaches of Balos and Elafonissi are within an hour drive. If you prefer the mountains, there are many interesting trails to follow. A lot of travelers prefer to walk on the nearby mountains of Cape Spatha where they collect Gretan herbs such as thyme, oregano, malotira, fliskouni, diktamo, mantzourana. However, Kissamos, Chania and our Crete are not limited here. Maybe all this is just a small, good start. Going around the area you will come across hospitable cafes and tavernas with traditional Cretan cuisine. No matter what you choose to do or visit, the only thing certain is that you will be delighted with all your senses. We hope its recollection will bring you back soon to us. TRANSPORT FACILITIES A car is strongly recommended. There is also, a bus, during the week days, from Rodopou to Chania bus station or you can always call a taxi from Kolympari, 5 kms away. Additionally, a car rental or transport from and to the airport or Souda port can be arranged. There is also free private parking place for 2 cars in Villa Menies.
