If you have any questions before you arrive, please feel free to message me through the Airbnb app. Once you are onsite, you can talk to Lesley in the Tea Rooms or on her mobile number which I will share with you before you arrive. The village earned the title of the Plague Village following an outbreak of bubonic plague in 1665 and the self imposed isolation by the villagers. The disease killed most of the inhabitants and there are plaques on the buildings throughout Eyam which explain how many people died there. It makes for a very interesting walk through the village. The property is a stone’s throw from The Miner’s Arms pub where you can enjoy some lovely home cooked food. The are a couple of local shops and a post office. The lovely Eyam Hall is open for tours at various times during the year and also boasts a courtyard with shops and a restaurant. We have a private parking space next to the Tea Room for your use, but there is also ample on street parking in the village. There is a bus service through the village and the nearest train station is at Grindleford which is about 4 miles away. Eyam village is an ideal base for walking, cycling and other outdoor activities. The picturesque market town of Bakewell is just 5 miles away, and Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the scenic Hassop Trail are within very easy reach. Please note that the Tea Rooms are closed on Mondays (except June, July and August, and Bank Holidays) so you would be unable to get breakfast or lunch here on that day. Unfortunately, the log burner is not usable.
