Centre Chorégraphique “Le Château"

A stay at the Centre Chorégraphique “Le Château” means a unique experience off the beaten track, whilst supporting this local cultural project by your stay! The Château is situated in the thriving fishermen's district of Saint-Louis. During the colonial time, the Château was the Palace of the Mauritanian Governor ; today it is the vibrant headquarters of Diagn'Art (a dance company and cultural organisation, which organises the yearly contemporary dance festival Duo Solo Danse), where performances, residencies, rehearsals, dance classes and film projections take place all year long. For travelers who wish to meet local people and get in touch with culture and art, this is the perfect place to be! You will be able to watch dance and/or theatre rehearsals, performances, watch or participate in dance classes, and have a good time with the artists and the team at the patio bar. Or have a drink at the rooftop terrace which offers one of the best views of Saint-Louis and its surroundings. We offer large and light two-bedroom studio's with private bathroom (shower with hot water and toilet) on the first floor, with an open patio and kitchen for shared use. Bed linen and towels are provided. The beds have bed-nets. On demand we can add more matrasses. We have a fast wifi connection. You can either chose to cook yourself, or we can provide authentic Saint-Lousian meals for a small price. Or you can take a 15 minute strall to the city center, across the bridge, and chose one of the many restaurants there. In the neighbourhood you will find the market at a 5 minutes walk. Transport is nearby, with buses and taxis stopping just in front of the Château. At 8 pm the Château's activities stop, so you will have a quiet evening and night. At any time, we are happy to offer you any help and advice about the places to be, things to do and upcoming events in and around the city, to make your stay as nice and comfortable as possible!
