Tredethy House - The Garden Lodge
The Garden Lodge – once a potting shed and glasshouse for Tredethy House – offers comfortable, newly refurbished accommodation with its own private walled garden. Tredethy House has been under new ownership since 2020. The Garden Lodge overlooks the Camel Valley and is located in central Cornwall, just 3 miles from the A30. It is close to the Camel Trail for cycling/walking and ideal for exploring everything Cornwall has to offer. Please note: 7 days minimum, starting Saturdays (May - August) Accommodation is flexible: 1 double bedroom, 1 twin/superking zip link bed, 1 twin bedroom. Watch the sun rising over Bodmin Moor from the raised BBQ terrace or setting over the garden wall in the evening, and enjoy long views across the Camel Valley from the patio or sitting room. As Bodmin Moor is designated as an International Dark Sky Park and the Camel Valley as a Special Landscape Area, The Garden Lodge is the perfect spot for a bit of bird watching and stargazing. The Garden Lodge is let as a single unit sleeping up to 6 people with its own walled/fenced garden. Guests are also welcome to explore the grounds of Tredethy House. The hosts, Rosie and Robin, live in the main house and will welcome you on arrival and be available should you have any queries. Tredethy is a small hamlet and historically part of the Tredethy House estate, formerly home of Prince Chula of Thailand. It is 500 metres from the Camel Trail at Hellandbridge from where you can walk or cycle along the wooded river bank to Wenford Bridge or to Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow. The nearest pub and community shop are in St Mabyn, about 1.5 miles away. Padstow, Polzeath and other beaches are within half an hour's drive. Our location halfway between the A30 and the Atlantic Highway (A39) makes Tredethy a great base for exploring everything that Cornwall has to offer. The Camel Trail, Bodmin Moor, Bodmin Jail, Pencarrow House, Camel Valley Vineyard, Cardinham Woods and the Bodmin steam railway are all nearby, as well as a wide range of outdoor activities - walking, cycling, surfing, fly fishing and horse riding, to name a few. We're also close to many of north Cornwall’s beaches and fishing ports as well as historic sites and attractions, including Polzeath, Daymer Bay, Padstow, Port Isaac, Lanhydrock House, the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Tintagel Castle. During high season, the minimum stay is 7 nights from Saturday to Saturday. At other times, the minimum stay is 3 nights and a discounted rate is set for 7 nights. If you would like to stay for between 3 and 7 nights, please contact us.
