Candlarah Farm - Our country house in Firefly, on the beautiful Mid North Coast. We fell in love with this 100 acres, moving from the Northern Beaches of Sydney in 2010. We relished the journey of building the house, garden & farm - connecting with the land & this heart felt community. Tracks through the trees and paddocks to explore: Kangaroos, birds and maybe, the echidna or koala. Enjoy local markets, walk, relax on the deck, take time to breathe. This Australian, eclectic-styled farm house is the perfect spot for a country escape, to relax and just be in nature. Gardens, wildlife & 100 acres to roam. Relax on the decks and by the pool - which captures all-day sunshine. Enjoy sharing meals in the large kitchen, around the hand-crafted dining table. Plenty of space to sit and enjoy a meal out by the BBQ, which is under cover and overlooks the pool. Nearby cafes: Blue-gums on Bucketts in Krambach (5kms), which has delicious home-style food great coffee & milkshakes. The Greenhouse Cafe is in Nabiac (12 mins drive) plus 2 grocery stores, great pub , takeaway, tennis courts, pool, antique shops and 2 home-ware stores. There's a stylish new homeware store with beautiful linen products, "The GreenHouse Collective" The Greenhouse Cafe features produce from their own permaculture farm nearby in Firefly: "From Our Farm" and has fabulous food & coffee. Krambach also has a great local pub with lovely views from the back deck, plus tennis court, convenience store and post-office. There are also lovely cafes in Gloucester. Garden Grub & Bent on Food are in Wingham and Valley View Farm at Rainbow Flat. Blackhead Beach & Diamond Beach are all around 25 mins. Forster is 30 minutes. It's a beautiful drive to Seal Rocks along the Lakes Way. Candlarah is situated on a sealed road: 3 hrs north of Sydney, 12 mins from the buzzing little town of Nabiac on the Pacific Highway and 5 mins from the friendly, authentic small town of Krambach. This area is cattle country, with many working farms & dairies. The spacious farmhouse has 4 bedrooms, 2 queen and 2 double) 2.5 bathrooms, 2 separate living areas, study and a fully equipped kitchen, with cooking essentials in the pantry, including spices, tea & coffee, coffee-pod machine. One of the queen bedrooms has an en-suite. The other 3 bedrooms share the main bathroom. The spacious deck, overlooking the countryside, is perfect for relaxing, spending time with family and friends, yoga and bird-watching. The log fire in winter is wonderful. There is an outdoor loo too. It is still our much-loved family home, so everything you could possibly need should be here! There's a variety of pillows on each bed, so you can take your pick. Check out Mograni Wines & Hillview Herb Farm in Gloucester. Candlarah is 30 minutes to the historic town of Gloucester, the drive through Gloucester to Stroud, along the Bucketts Way is beautiful. Historic Wingham is also 30 minutes along the scenic Bucketts Way. There is a study which looks out over garden beds and pool for anyone who needs a quiet space to work or study. There is horse-riding available at Clarendon Forest Retreat (20 mins away) or Horse-about Tours, riding at Diamond Beach (25 min drive). More things to do in the area are outlined in the guest information - sent through upon booking. Local chef, Susie, provides a boutique catering service: Featuring high quality, local produce, from her own garden, and offers flexible service with a smile. Susie also owns a small, authentic property with goats, veggies and chooks - you can book a farm visit and sometimes buy seasonal produce and eggs. Susie is also an artist - well worth a peek! Enjoy the piano & guitar, toys and games. This is truly a nature escape, with beautiful views to soak-in, rain-water and solar power. Candlarah Farm has previously been home to cattle, horses, sheep, chickens and many visitors. We've grown Aloe Vera (gels & products), herbs and edible flowers, selling these locally. Candlarah is an acronym of our 4 names. We look forward to resuming our farm activities when we return home and have plans for a hosted health retreat. The house, 1 acre garden and rambling 100 acres is yours to share, so please relax and enjoy. I welcome questions about the property or the local area. The house, garden, car port, pool and 100 acres are yours to enjoy and explore during your stay. There's a map on the wall of the property, so you can get your bearings. There are 3 dams and 11 paddocks. Each paddock's gate has a blue sign with the name of the paddock. We hope you love Candlarah as much as we do. You will be greeted here and we are here to assist with anything else you require during your stay. I would love to hear from you and welcome questions about the property (which we built ourselves on vacant land in 2012), or the local area/community. Message me (Laura Pennington) on messenger or email. Our managers, Deborah & Susie, both live close by, have great local knowledge and will be available should extra needs arise. It is 5 kms from Krambach, which boasts a good pub, cafe, service station, tennis courts, pool and post-office. It's a down-to-earth country town with great local people. Book the tennis courts at the pub. Candlarah is 12 mins to Nabiac, which has great vintage shops, grocery stores, pool, tennis courts, skate ramp, doctor, pharmacist, hairdresser, op-shop, take-away and a good pub. The Greenhouse cafe has great food: The cafe owner lives nearby and grows much of the food at her permaculture farm. We are 30 mins to the lovely country towns of Gloucester, Wingham and Taree. Also, 25 mins to Halliday's Point and 30 to fabulous beaches of Forster, where you can dine at Hamilton's Oyster and watch the Dolphins. Valley View Farm Cafe, Cafe Rivz and The Salty Dog are 20 mins. Horse riding at Clarendon and Forster. Wineries include: Villa D'Esta at nearby Dyer's Crossing and Tugwood Wines at Mograni. Old Inn Wines and Great Lakes Paddocks are located in Wootton and are worth a visit - Great Lakes Paddocks often has live music in the weekends. Each local town hosts Farmer's Markets - the best places for great local produce. The annual Great Lakes' Food Trail show-cases farm-gate producers. Some of these farms will host a tour for a group at other times. Burraduc Buffalo Farm at Mayer's Flat (near Smith Lake) has divine milk and cheeses, sold at the farm gate. It's well-worth the stunning drive along the Lakes Way toward Bluey's Beach & Seal Rocks. If you're looking for a gorgeous country wedding venue, look at Kings Creek Retreat, Wallambah Downs and Clarendon Forest Retreat. Cattle are sometimes here, so we ask that gates are kept closed (or simply leave a gate as you find it). There's no public transport. A folder with guest information, including the wifi password, is available at the house. I will send more info, with driving directions, when a booking is made.
