Weir Lodge is located in the beautiful Dorset countryside not far from Stonehenge, Stourhead, Longleat Safari Park, Gold Hill, Monkey World, Sherborne Castle and the Jurassic Coast. The house provides stunning views across the River Stour valley and the Thomas Hardy Dorset countryside. Its centrally located for fun packed days out and quiet relaxing evenings. The house is located within a private equestrian farm estate and only 5 minutes walk to an award winning pub and Spar shop in village. The accommodation comprises a 3 bedroom self contained annex within the upstairs wing of a large family home. The spacious 25ft x 25ft living area has an open plan kitchen with dining area - a great social hub! The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom (with shower over bath) and there is a further family bathroom (with bath and separate shower stall) for bedrooms 2 & 3. The apartment is accessed through our home via a shared front door and staircase, but has its own internal doorway to the wing for privacy from the rest of the house. The living area has 2 comfortable sofa's, fireplace and large television with full range of Sky channels available (including Movies and Sports). From the living/dining area, there are wonderful views across the Dorset Countryside. There is an outside area at the front of property which has a dining table and chairs on the lawn for outside informal dining. There is also a BBQ available for cooking on (please bring your own charcoal though!). There are stables available for hire at an additional cost of £15 per night for those who would like to take their horse on holiday with them. Riders are able to enter into the various show jumping competitions at The Dorset Showground or ride out into the Dorset Countryside. The apartment is accessed through our home via a shared front door (guests will be given a key for this) and staircase, but has its own internal doorway to the wing for privacy from the rest of the house. Please note that Alex, Rob and family live in the remainder of the house, and our family rooms are not accessible to guests. As we live in the house, it is likely we will bump into you at some point as you are leaving or returning! We are happy to let you enjoy your stay with minimal interaction if that is your preference. Alternatively, if you enjoy a chat, Alex is always pleased to spend some time getting to know guests, and to talk about the area. Weir Lodge is a great place to stay for couples or as a family group with lots to see and do in the local area. Alex and her husband Rob have grown up in the area and can recommend places to go whether that be walking, historic attractions or wildlife. The residence is situated well for driving to the historic coast line or just pottering around the local countryside or old market towns. We are in the process of putting together a tourist guide book for the area and currently have over 70 places which are work a visit, all within no more than an hours drive with lots just on the doorstep. Key places to visit, depending upon your tastes are Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum, Sherborne Castle, Stourhead House & Gardens & Lord Bath's famous Longleat which are just a few.
