Mountain Lodge is situated on a hill top high above the historic Gwrych Castle, a 19th century Gothic folly in Abergele, North Wales. It is a truly unique setting surrounded by woodland and with panoramic views of the Carneddau mountain range in the Snowdonia National Park. We have two shepherds huts (the bedrooms) with an adjacent Stable and Barn for your daytime accommodation. The shepherds hut with a door on the side sleeps 4 with a bunk bed at one end and a double bed at the other. The ‘pointed’ roof hut has a double bed and sleeps 2. Both have woodburning stoves and electrics (lights and sockets). The renovated Stable is right next to the shepherds huts and has all the facilities that you will need during your stay and is for your exclusive use. It has a heated shower room with toilet, washbasin, wood burning stove with a large top plate which you can use for cooking or heating food, large sofa, kitchen area with fridge, kettle, cutlery, utensils etc. The fridge is stocked with fresh milk, water, butter and locally produced yoghurts. A door leads from the Stable into a Barn which has an open area for you to sit and enjoy the views. The huts are available for booking all year round. Always on hand to advise on great places to visit and eat out. We also have plenty of maps and guides on walks and cycling routes. Mountain Lodge is blessed with an abundance of nature and wildlife, during the daytime you will see buzzards strolling the skies and at dusk you may see bats flying around in search of insects. A lake in the adjacent field is home to wild duck and geese and you will often hear the birds ‘chattering’ during the night. With wonderful walks in Snowdonia and great beaches in Anglesey, we are conveniently located to explore the rich scenery and heritage of North Wales. For keen cyclists there are excellent off road and road trails including the coastal cycle path which is about 2 miles away. Whatever you would like to do we can help you to make the most of your stay with us at Mountain Lodge. We are more than happy to meet you at the local train station and take you back to the station at the end of your stay. Abergele station is less than 10 mins away and there is a more frequent service to Colwyn Bay train station which is about 15 mins away
