Stunning traditional fisherman's cottage on the edge of the loch in the quietest end of picturesque Plockton village, commonly thought of as the most beautiful village on the West Coast. Delicious local food, live music and palm trees. Superb! Check our website for lots of photos at (Website hidden by Airbnb) Taobh-Lochcarron is a recently renovated traditional fisherman's cottage with the sea lapping the end of the garden and has served as our family holiday house for decades. As such, it has been described by previous guests as a “home from home” with plenty of games, puzzles, dvds and books and many kitchen gadgets that you would not expect to find in a rented holiday house. The house has two bedrooms, a bathroom and a downstairs cloakroom with plenty of space in the dining area for puzzles, games and laptops. The kitchen is fully equipped. The comfy sitting room contains a television and dvd player. The third bedroom is in the old stone bothy in the garden - a fully independent area with twin beds, fabulous shower room and spacious chilling out area. Perfect for anyone wanting to have a bit of space! The beds will be make up with crisp cotton sheets with fluffy white towels for each guest. Taobh-Lochcarron is crammed full of beach finds amongst the original artwork on the walls and plenty of books on the shelves. Although only a matter of minutes on foot to the central part of the village, the cottage is tucked away at the end of a very quiet street away from the hustle and bustle. It is a very special holiday home. Guests are very welcome to use all of the home but must not use the boat or very old kayaks in the garden. You will understand when you see them! Our housekeeper, Lenice, lives in the village and will be at hand should the need arise. She and her husband Alex are market gardeners and sell their produce from their house near the airstrip. A must for fresh veg and strawberries in season and outstanding jams. Plockton village is the gem of the Highlands! The award winning Plockton Hotel, the Plockton Inn and The Shores restaurant all serve locally landed seafood and locally reared meat to a high standard. Live music, a fish and chippy, gallery and gift shops, village shop, Callum's seal trips, coral beaches, lochside walks and hill walks, kayaking, and swimming in the loch for those brave enough! Further afield, the historic Eilean Donan Castle is nearby, often used as a stunning film set, all the attractions of the Isle of Skye accessed via the graceful bridge at Kyle of Lochalsh, the beautiful drive to Applecross - the highest road in Scotland - or take a ride on the train as far as Inverness on what must be one of the most beautiful train rides in the country. The stunning gardens of Attadale House are also close - a real must for garden lovers. The house manual contains further ideas. You can get to Plockton by train from Inverness, by boat into the harbour, by light aircraft landing on the airstrip above the village or, more mundanely, by car! Once in Plockton, a car would be a bonus to go exploring although the train comes through the village about four times a day which could be used to go further afield without a car. Plockton is on the Inverness - Kyle of Lochalsh line. We run our bookings from Sunday to Sunday to make our busy housekeeper’s life easier. I do hope that this works for you, too!
