Traditional house in the port

The house is located just in front of the sea, in the port. It’s an old traditional house, we almost haven’t changed a thing in the original architecture. We share it with the whole family and we've come here since the 60's to spend holidays. The house is divided in 4 floors. On the first floor, you'll find a covered terrace, the living room, the kitchen (with access to the back street), a bedroom and a toilet. On the 2nd floor: 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The top floor is the rooftop terrace. You can access the whole house, except for the garage (ground floor) where we keep our personal belongings. We won't be in the house ourselves, but we'll be happy to help you out with any question you have by phone, email or text message. You will also be in contact with the local rental agency who takes care of our guests' arrival and departure, and they can also help you with any other problem or question you have. El Port de la Selva is a fishermen's village. Every weekday, you'll see fishermen's boats leave the port and come back with various fish species. The bay is also a perfect location for water sports: windsurfing, paddle, water skiing,.... We are very close to the beautiful village of Cadaques, which is definitely worth a visit. And last but not least, the village is located in the Cap de Creus Natural Park, where you'll find many possibilities for walks or even GR trails. The walk to the Sant Pere de Rodes Monastery (9th century), to the Taballera beach, or to Cadaques are some of our favorites. By train : the closest train station is located in Llança, with trains coming and going to Girona, Barcelona, Figueres or Portbou. A bus can take you from Llança to El Port de la Selva, but check timetables before leaving, as there aren't many. In Figueres there's also a TGV station, with trains coming from Brussels (9-10 hours ride). By plane: the closest airport is Girona airport. There's also a good connection with the Barcelona airport, from where you can take the train to Llança. By taxi : A taxi from Llança to El Port de la Selva will cost approximatively 15€. A taxi from Girona airport will cost approx. 120€, and 160€ for a mini-van. WIFI and TV: Please note we don't have WIFI connection yet (we are working on it). You will find WIFI in some bars in the village though. We also don't have a TV, but after three generations of kids enjoying this house without needing one, we feel like it is not really needed here. BEDSHEETS and TOWELS: We don’t have bedsheets and towels for guests in the house. You will have to bring yours. Or you can rent them in the village for 9€/bed for the bedsheets, and 9€/person for the towels (including one big and one small towel). JULY-AUGUST: In the summer season, we give priority to rentals of 14 nights minimum, starting on Saturdays. But feel free to get in touch if you have any other requests. WINTER: For those interested to rent the house during the colder season, please note we don't have central heating in the house, but there are some free standing gas heaters.
