Quirky Camping Luxury Eco Yurts

The yurts offer a real haven for anyone needing a total break from their busy lives - total rest and relaxation in your own private space. You can just enjoy spending time together, living a more gentle lifestyle, more at one with nature. Three off grid yurt retreats hidden in the rolling north dordogne countryside. Each with its' own private summer kitchen and solar bathroom and compost toilets. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a gas oven and hob as well as a BBQ. Dining terrace, great for eating and drinking or relaxing in the sunloungers. Great views and amazing star gazing. The yurts are individually furnished with treasures found at local brocantes, which we have then lovingly restored. Each yurt has a double bed, two bedside tables, a chest and a seating area, chest of drawers and rugs etc. Beds are made up ready for your arrival - towels can be hired. Each yurt has ample private space around it - there are only two other retreats but they are situated a long way from each other so you can be totally on your own if you want to be - it is the perfect place for a honeymoon or romantic long weekend. There is a boules court available to guests, as well as a plunge pool situated in the Jardin Splish Splosh - a place where you can get together with other guests and the owners if you choose to - great nights sat chatting around the big fire bowl with a beer and a bit of guitar playing - but it isn't obligatory and doesn't happen every night so you can be in it or not! Someone is always here to welcome you when you arrive, to show you around and settle you in. We live in the house at the top of the hill and are always about if you want to know the best spots to visit or are needing a restaurant recommendation, or just need a glug of olive oil or something else you have forgotten to buy at the shops. We are in a quiet, rural location but the lively village of Verteillac is under 10 minutes away where all facilities - shops, butcher, baker, bank, post office, tourist information as well as several bars and restaurants are situated. There are other restaurants closer too. TGV from UK comes to Angouleme in about 5h30 - we can pick you up from there for a fee or you can get closer either by bus to Mareuil or by train to Montmoreau, both about 15 minutes from us where we will pick you up for free. You can hire bikes for your stay. Anyone who fancies cycling here will get a 10% discount. There is a bus that runs between Perigueux and Angouleme that stops in Mareuil or La Rochebeaucourt - it costs 2 euros and we can pick you up from here. There is a solar shower and compost toilet private to each yurt (you don't have to empty the loo though, that is all done for you, unless you want to learn about it). There is also a lovely bathroom up in one of our barns where the solar shower has a back up electric system just in case the weather isn't so good and you need a lovely hot shower.
