Charming guest house "THE OLD SILK STORE"

The Old Silk Store is a neo-classical building appx. 140 years old. It has been sympathetically renovated preserving its traditional character. The rooms have a style of this era. There is a shady courtyard with well established hydrangeas and wisteria. The square is appx. 3 mins walk with lovely restaurant and coffee shop shaded by the Tilos trees. 3 other tavernas within walking distance. A bakery is opposite and 2 other coffee shops+ post office . Jill the owner interacts with guests. If you are looking for glitz and glamour this experience is not for you. The Old Silk Store reflects a past era and the accommodation has been renovated in a sympathetic style the bathrooms are simple but adequate. The characteristics of the house have been preserved as much as possible. There are cats on the premises so anyone with an allergy should be aware. This room is on one side above ground level but from the other direction the garden is accessible at ground level. Subject to some traffic noise (mainly in high season when people return from the beaches in the afternoon). Also the room is on the same level as where the owner lives. Any more questions please feel free to ask. It is possible for laundry to be done at 4 euros a wash. (2 euros goes to animal welfare). We are a small group involved in Animal Welfare in the area. I live on the premises and available to give information about the local area. I love to interact with my guests and many have become my friends. If you have any problems during your stay I prefer to know about them right away so that I can correct what ever I am able too. From Mouresi it is easy (with transport) to access the beaches of Damochari, Papa. Nero. Agios, Ioannis, Plaka or to go to Milopotamos or Fakistra. There is an aristocratic square bathed in the shade of many Tilos trees. Which is a great location for the village festivals, weddings and baptisms. There is a taverna/coffee shop. There are another 3 restaurants in the village. Two more coffee shops and a mini post office. Plus a bakery which is right opposite the Old Silk Store. There is a well stocked mini-market just 3 minutes walk away . There is a bus service to Mouresi from Volos and vice versa. The bus service is run by KTEL. The journey from Volos takes about 2 hours. Please check timetable with them. (The destination written on the front of the bus to get to Mouresi is Agios Ioannis. (Get off at the first stop next to the mini post office) and walk down the hill to Damouchari. The Old Silk Store is about 4 minutes walk from that point. Please take care on the roads. Often there is not room for two cars to pass. Please try to arrive at your destination before dark. The Old Silk Store is a great base for a walking holiday. Walking maps are available and Jill your hostess can give you a lot of information. Short guided walks can also be arranged on request for a fee. There is a net-work of mule-paths joining villages. To walk to the beach it takes about one hour. Coming back up takes a bit longer.
