Kambarang Eco-cabin
Secluded cute, well equipped eco cabin surrounded by beautiful bush. Peaceful. SILENCE! Cosy log fire in winter. Walking / mountain bike trails. Bird life and song. Brilliant starry night skies. Local produce including fruit, wine and olive oil available all around the area. Fully self-contained cabin with stand alone (off grid) small solar power system, gas stove, log fire heater, TV, coffee machine and lovely hot rainwater shower (great for hair and skin). There is a double bed in the loft (wake up in the tree tops) and downstairs are 2 singles. We can provide up to 2 more small single mattresses in the loft if required. Please note that access to the loft is via 'ladder stairs' (see photo) which are very steep and so perhaps not suitable for small children, elderly or disabled people. We will host a max of 4 adults but can take up to 6 with kids in a family group. While we have no objection to alcohol consumption, we are not the type of venue for a 'drinking holiday'. There's also a wood heater for winter which keeps the cabin warm and cosy, as well as having the stovetop to cook a delicious slow cook soup or your dinner if you feel inclined, instead of using the gas stove. The wood heater is also a backup for the solar hot water system. The bathroom and toilet are located on the back verandah. Use of the mountain bike/walk trails on the property is included free of charge, and Barrie may be available to do any bike repairs you may need in our fully equipped bike workshop. Look us up at Cycletrek for more info on the bike shop and the property. Lowden is in the shire of Donnybrook/Balingup (we are 20km from Donnybrook town) and is 45 minutes from Bunbury and 15 minutes from the Ferguson Valley wineries. The property, Kambarang, is 100 ares of beautiful jarrah/marri bushland with views up and down the Preston Valley and has 8+ km of walk/mountain bike track (rated at blue level, however there is also a novice/kids track). Springtime provides a profusion of wildflowers including some very special orchids. The region is the fruit bowl of WA and seasonal freshly picked produce can be purchased from roadside stalls along the Preston Valley, plus wine and olive oil. May to December is absolutely beautiful away from the coast in the south west . It is lush and green and without the strong coastal winds, its lovely even when it is raining. We are above the frost line and some mornings can look down on a mist in the valley below while enjoying the colours of the sunrise. We are 8km from the Bibbulmun Track and offer a pick up/ drop off service (for a fee) to guests - and also for the Munda Biddi Mountain Bike Trail. There is a fully equipped bicycle repair shop on the property and Barrie can service or repair your bike during your stay. Please note that for long weekends we have a minimum stay requirement of 3 nights. The cabin is very private, surrounded by forest. Our house is 450m from the cabin. After checking all is OK after you arrive, we leave you alone, but if you want anything - including a chat - just wander up to see us. Our neighbourhood is beautiful bushland. The wider area is forest or farmland. No public transport Vodaphone is useless in country areas and bad weather can affect all phone reception. We have a small bike repair workshop (Cycletrek) on the property, and have a couple of kids bikes (20") that we can lend (free) if you have young kids, so tell them to pack their bike helmet! (You will need to let us know before you arrive if you want this service.)
