Quinta do Mirante, a guest house with a view

Quinta do Mirante is over a hundred years old. Formerly a wine farm, our house is located on the hillside of the green valley where the rivers Douro, Paiva and Tamega meet. The name ‘Mirante’ was inspired by the view seen from a uniquely large rock studded with cedar trees. Roughly 50 kilometres from Porto, the airport and the long beaches, we are happy to be comfortable nestled close to the city but far enough inland to be part of Portugal’s famous wine country. Our quinta is a place for friends and families to spend a magical stay away from home. An environment naturally designed for group getaways, with more than enough space besides for moments of quiet solitude and rejuvenation. Gaze out onto the valley while you enjoy a dip in our summit pool. Lose yourself among our fruit tree plateaus. Stroll the olive fields or walk the forest paths until you find your place to enjoy the view. Seek out hidden niches scattered across the terrain. Gather fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs from the garden to prepare your own lunch or dinner. Or simply pick a spot on the terrace under the palms and let yourself be pampered with a glass of chilled wine and a local snack. You will have the whole guest house for yourselves, with a living, a fully equipped kitchen, the veranda, terraces, the outdoor kitchen, the pool, the hammock place and 4 hectares of fruit gardens, vegetable gardens and forest. We live in the private, seperate area of the Quinta, so we are always at your disposal in English, French and Dutch. Sorry, still working hard to add Portuguese to our list as well! In the region there is a lot to do and to see: Douro Verde Valley, Vinho Verde region, Roman Route, many hiking trails, water activities, local gastronomy and visits to local farms. Porto, the Atlantic coast, Aveiro, Guimarães, Amarante, all in 1 hour distance. Castelo de Paiva is reachable by bus from Porto centre. We advise to rent a car to get around.
