Tuscan Retreat, Manciano
In the centre of a medieval village close to the sea , wineries and Saturnia spa. The house is old with wooden beams yet recently refurbished and modernized. The entrance is at street level, there are two steps to the living area and steps to the second bedroom. Inside the bathroom there is both a jacuzzi and a shower. There is an outdoor terrace with a lovely view of the countryside. There is a garden downstairs and a second exit from the garden. There is free parking near to the house . In the historical centre of a medieval hilltop town. The home probably belonged to a farmer because it has an antique crest with ears of corn above the front door. You have two different entrances from either the front or from the garden. The house is very large inside with wooden beams, open fireplaces, hand painted wall decorations from many years ago and terracotta floors. There's a very large living room with a double ensuite bedroom reached by three marble steps. The large kitchen with vaulted terracotta ceilings has a table for dining and French doors leading to the terrace. The largest bedroom is adjacent to the kitchen also with French doors leading to the terrace. The large bathroom has both a shower and a separate bath. Going down a flight of stairs you reach the middle level, boiler room and an extra bedroom which is not rented and remains locked. Going down another few steps you reach a garden with fruit trees and another outdoor dining area . There is a washing room near the garden gate. Guests can use all the rooms I will greet the guests but will not be in the area when they are staying. The house is in the historic center and so walking to restaurants or bars is very easy. We have a lovely little Osteria about 50 meters away with outdoor dining. Our favorite short walk is straight up to the ancient fortress and look over the Tuscan countryside as the sun sets in the evening. The views of the Mediterranean and the islands Giglio and Elba are splendid. Although it can be very warm in the summer our house stays quite cool thanks to the thick medieval walls. There’s always a breeze in the evening so cocktails on the terrace is a must. We love the clean air, great food and beautiful beaches nearby . You need a car to get to the beach or to the spa in Saturnia. We have a garden entrance downstairs where you can park temporarily to unload shopping, beach equipment or whatever. There is a small parking area to park just in front of our garden for about 15 cars and often you’ll find a spot. Alternatively in the large park in front of the car park, you drive past the Carabinieri go downhill to the right and turn right again into the park there are lots of spaces there. You need a car to stay in this village. There is plenty to see locally on foot but it is a small village so you will want to visit the beaches, thermal spas , ancient Etruscan ruins, museums and beautiful neighboring villages. The bus service is limited so you'll need your own car
