Lodge 55 is one of our beautiful Scandinavian wood lodges where you can enjoy Galloway's famous dark skies and abundant wildlife from the comfort of your own balcony, whilst also being located close to the picturesque beach at Sandyhills on the Solway Coast in Dumfries and Galloway. All of our Barend Holiday Lodges guests can enjoy our indoor heated swimming pool and sauna, as well as a free 9-hole round of golf at our great local par 3 Craigieknowes golf course. Lodge 55 is Barend Holiday Lodge's only "upside down" accommodation. The living room is upstairs to take advantage of the stunning views over the Lake District and Solway Firth. The lodge has been beautifully decorated with high quality furnishings throughout. Guests are treated to two king size beds, both with en-suite showers, as well as a twin bedroom with a family bathroom opposite. Lodge 55 mixes tradition and modernity well, with a modern kitchen and bathrooms. Free WiFi is available and you can bring your furry friend to enjoy Barend! Lodge 55 in more detail… GROUND FLOOR Dining Area The comfortable dining area is fully equipped for 6 people with a dining table and access to the downstairs balcony. Kitchen A well-equipped extended kitchen with a gas hob and electric oven, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. A separate freezer is stored in the hallway cupboard for your convenience. A full range of cooking utensils, crockery, glassware and cutlery is provided. For special occasions, high quality Denby crockery and glassware are available from Reception on request. Double Bedroom A double bedroom with wall-mounted TV, ensuite toilet, wash basin and shower with access to the balcony. Twin Bedroom A twin bedroom with wall-mounted TV opposite the house bathroom. Bathroom With electric shower over the bath. Balcony A large balcony with furniture gives a view of the Solway Coast. FIRST FLOOR Living Area The large and airy lounge is well equipped with comfortable seating for 6 people and a large TV with DVD player and sound system. The lounge gives excellent views over the Solway Firth and Lake District. A balcony with furniture is accessed through doors in the living area and gives a view of the Solway Coast. King Bedroom A King-Size bed with ensuite toilet, wash basin and shower. This bedroom is accessed via the lounge. OUTSIDE There is parking for two vehicles directly outside the lodge. Dine on site at The Beagle Country Pub. The entire lodge & on-site facilities. We have an on-site reception which is open between 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday-Saturday and 10.00am - 4.00pm on a Sunday to answer any of your queries. Our beautiful Scandinavian wood cabins and lodges are privately owned and are finished to a high quality and unique in style. All are set in stunning surroundings making for a wonderful relaxing or active holiday. The beach is a 5-10 minute walk away. The Solway Coast is a beautiful coastline, with quaint villages, quiet beaches, and excellent opportunities for cycling, walking and golf. There are numerous museums and activities for children within a short drive. Barend Holiday Lodges are around 500m away from the nearest bus stop (the 372 runs from Dumfries to Dalbeattie a few times a day). The nearest train station is in Dumfries. Parking for 2 cars is available directly outside the lodge.
