Country Retreat

Our 5000 sq ft home is located on 2 acres & is available for rent by the suite or the entire home. Perfect for your weekend getaway to the country. Beautifully furnished, a movie theater, smart TVs with cable, Netflix and Hulu. Located in the heart of amazing hiking, apple/pumpkin picking, antiquing, skiing- Mohawk Mountain, Kent's Falls, Southbury and Woodbury "Antique Trail.” This is a "whole house rental" so you will have our home to yourselves. Sleeping Arrangements for "Country Retreat": -Queen Suite: Plush Queen platform bed with upholstered headboard, Ensuite bath with luxurious spa shower built for two; The suite is super private and quiet with blackout curtains. -Nautical Suite: two twin beds with Pottery Barn bedding; also with black out curtains. -Victorian Suite: The Queen canopy bed and relaxing arm chair will lure you in to curl up and relax. Black out curtains that will make you feel like a royal. The Nautical Suite & Victorian Suite share the hall bath with double sinks and a shower with bathtub. -Wine Cellar Suite: a treasured private space with a full bed. Flooded with light and made up with luxurious bedding, this makes for the perfect place to retreat away from it all. The wood blinds can be closed for a long nap or a full nights rest. It has it's own bath with spa shower. Amenities abound: The LIBRARY is a perfect place to retreat to. You will surely find yourself curled up on the leather couch as the sun or moonlight streams in through the windows surrounding you with views of the country while you play a game of chess, read a book or enjoy a relaxing cocktail. The traditional DINING ROOM has space for your entire group. Please be careful of our antique sideboard. The CHEF'S KITCHEN has everything you could ever need for anything from a quick snack to a gourmet meal. Settle in on a stool at the counter or eat at the kitchen table. The FAMILY ROOM has an incredibly comfortable sectional couch, fireplace and 60 inch smart TV with cable, Netflix and Hulu. The room is flooded with light but the room darkening curtains can be pulled for privacy or a long nap. The GROUND FLOOR (it would insulting to refer to this finished walk out basement as a "basement") may be the best part of the entire house. It contains the WINE CELLAR SUITE- full bed, FULL BATH with spa shower, a huge living space with plush leather coach, lounge chair, full bar and 60 inch smart TV with hulu and netflix AND a separate MOVIE THEATER with projector screen TV! Outdoor Space: -two back decks (off of the kitchen and off of the walk out basement) -basketball hoop in the driveway Baths: -half bath on the first floor -full bath with double sinks and shower with tub on the second floor -full en suite bath with luxurious spa shower on the second floor in the "Queen Suite" -Sleek modern spa bathroom with spa shower in the furnished basement *Of note: although there are (too) many TVs in our home the only bedroom with a TV is the Queen Suite. You will have our home to yourselves but there is not access to the master bedroom suite where we store our personal items during our rentals. *please take into consideration when choosing our home that our personal items are present- ie there are clothes in my daughters bureau and closet etc. Our pictures are an accurate representation- we are very neat and tidy but we live there full time* Prior to arrival we speak with all of our guests by telephone to get to know you and to discuss the details. We expect that if you are booking that you will be staying there (ie not booking for others). On the day of your arrival we will either be there to let you in or provide you access through our keypad/ lock box. Upscale quiet suburban neighborhood. Please drive slowly up and down our street and be considerate of our neighbors so that we can continue to host respectful guests like you! A car is pretty much a necessity. The below has sadly morphed into what now is a rather ridiculous list of strict rules. The majority of the groups that have rented the house have been great but unfortunately we’ve had some real issues. Airbnb is a community built on mutual respect and it is unfortunate that we have learned the hard way that people can sometimes be dishonest about the number of people in their group. 1) Please be aware that we have a video surveillance system on the outside of the home. 2) This is not the place for a big party weekend. Our house has antique furniture, high end furnishings and a fragile septic system. We limit our bookings to 8 people and expect that only the people in your reservation will be on premises. No guests are permitted without notifying us. 3) Smoking, vaping, cigar smoking or the use of any drugs is not allowed. period. (CERTAINLY not inside but also not outside). Smoking inside will cause your stay to IMMEDIATELY be terminated without a refund and a $1000 fine will be charged through airbnb.
