The unique guesthouse / museum

Dom Muzealny Ornak is a totally unique place, built in 1902 and since then staying in the family. It combines antique interiors furnished and decorated entirely with furniture and other items from the epoque you usually can see in museums only with modern and comfortable kitchen and bathrooms. We have a beautiful garden, a charming porch and veranda, two parlours, one with a piano, and another in Art Deco style with a tv set. We invite you to a place like no other. Wybudowany w 1902 roku przez profesora Stanisława Sokołowskiego (nestora leśnictwa polskiego i ochrony przyrody, którego prace naukowe stworzyły podwaliny pod powstanie Tatrzańskiego Parku Narodowego), pozostaje nieprzerwanie w rękach jednej rodziny. Synowie Sokołowskiego w latach 20-tych nadali ton wspinaczkowej turystyce górskiej, zwanej wtedy „sokołowszczyzną”, w domu bywali wybitni ludzie (jak Irena Solska) i jako goście i jako wczasowicze. Teraz odrestaurowany i wyposażony wyłącznie w oryginalne sprzęty z epoki, daje możliwość nie tylko zapoznania się z burzliwą historią tego miejsca, ale zwiedzania przez obcowanie, czyli nocowanie w żywym muzeum! W Domu Muzealnym Ornak do dyspozycji Gości są cztery wielkie komfortowe sypialnie, hall, zakopiański pokój werandowy i kominowy do wspólnego użytku oraz w pełni wyposażona kuchnia i cztery łazienki. Ze względu na zabytkowy charakter budynku, część kuchenno-sanitarna znajduje się na najniższym poziomie, co może stanowić utrudnienie dla osób starszych lub gości z małymi dziećmi. Pokoje można wynajmować pojedynczo lub też łączyć w dwa niezależne 4-6 osobowe apartamenty. Jest też możliwość wynajęcia domu w całości. Niewątpliwym atutem tego miejsca jest dominujący tu styl witkiewiczowski wpływający na nietuzinkowy charakter wypoczynku. To wyjątkowe spać w pokoju Sasankowym na łóżku z 1910-20 roku pochodzącym z Willi Atma lub w pokoju Szafranowym na klasycznie witkiewiczowskim z rzeźbionymi ornamentami kwiatowymi. Niepowtarzalne są też - oryginalna sypialnia secesyjna (pokój Złotogłowy) i wypełniona meblami klasycystycznymi (pokój Litworowy). Zachwycą również niejednego: ogromne lampy naftowe (teraz wspomagane elektrycznie), stare piece kaflowe (również z kaflami projektowanymi przez samego Witkiewicza), przedwojenne aparaty telefoniczne podłączone do sieci stacjonarnej, obrazy z epoki czy zdjęcia rodzinne na ścianach. Niesamowity klimat Domu Muzealnego Ornak, zbudowanego z wielkich drewnianych płazów o rzadko spotykanej szerokości, spotęgowany jest jego położeniem. Otoczony wielkim ogrodem z cieszącym oczy starodrzewem, stwarza możliwość kameralnego wypoczynku w wiecznie zatłoczonym Zakopanem. Wszędzie jest jednak stąd blisko - na Krupówki, na narty, na spacery po górach i w tatrzańskich lasach. Ornak Museum House is an unique place not only on the map of Zakopane, but also on the map of Poland. Built in 1902 by professor Stanisław Sokołowski (the nestor of Polish forestry and nature protection, whose scientific work created the foundations of the Tatra National Park), still remains in the hands of one family. The sons of Sokołowski in the 1920s set the tone for climbing mountain tourism, then known as "Sokołowszczyzna", there were outstanding people as guests as well as vacationers in the house (like Irena Solska) . Now restored and equipped only with original furniture and other items from the era, it gives you the opportunity not only to get to know the turbulent history of this place, but also to experience an unique feeling, like a time travelling, by sleeping and staying in a living museum! In Ornak Museum House, there are four large, comfortable bedrooms, a hall, a charming porch a beautiful veranda and a chimney room for shared use as well as a fully equipped kitchen and four comfortable, modern bathrooms. Due to the historic nature of the building, the kitchen and sanitary area is at the lowest level, which may be a problem for older people or guests with small children. The rooms can be rented individually or combined into two independent 4-6 person apartments. It is also possible to rent a whole house. An undoubted advantage of this place is the Witkiewicz style, which dominates here, and makes staying in Ornak Museum Guesthouse absolutely special and unique. It is an exceptional feeling to sleep in the Sassanna room on the bed from 1910-20 deriving from the Villa Atma, or in a Saffron room on classic Witkiewicz style bed with carved floral ornaments. The original Art Nouveau bedroom (Asphodel room) and filled with classicistic furniture Angelica room are also very beautiful and outstanding. Huge oil lamps (now electrically assisted), old tiled stoves (also with tiles designed by Witkiewicz himself), pre-war telephone sets connected to the network, family photos and paintings from the era on the walls can delight the most sophisticated taste. The amazing atmosphere of the Ornak Museum House, built of large wooden beams of a rare width, is magnified by its location. Surrounded by the large garden filled with sunny lawns, old, great trees and beautiful flowers, it gives the possibility of the intimate rest in the always crowded Zakopane with places like Krupówki, shops, restaurants and cafes still very close to the House as well as skiing slopes, mountain routes and the forests of Tatra. Do dyspozycji gości pozostaje cały parter domu z osobnym wejściem oraz umieszczona na poziomie -1 część kuchenno sanitarna. Na parterze znajdują się pokoje sypialne, weranda z wyjściem do ogrodu (również do dyspozycji gości) pokój Werandowy z pianinem dla lubiących muzykę oraz pokój Kominowy, z którego prowadzi wyjście na zewnątrz, oraz schody na poziom -1. Tam znajdą Państwo kuchnię / jadalnię, luksusowe łazienki, saunę oraz salon z dużym telewizorem i również wyjściem do ogrodu. The entire ground floor of the house with a separate entrance and the kitchen sanitary part located on level -1 are at the guests' disposal. On the ground floor there are sleeping rooms, a veranda with access to the garden (also available to guests) Veranda room with a piano for those who like music and a chimney room, from which leads outside, and stairs to level -1. There you will find a kitchen / dining room, luxurious bathrooms, a sauna and a living room with a large TV and also an exit to the garden. During the whole visit we try to help our guests, and to provide a pleasant atmosphere and a sense of security, which is why in the private part of the house or on the phone there is always a person who takes care of the the guests. Ornak Museum House is placed close (about ten minutes on foot) to the center of the town as well as to beautiful walking routes. However because it's not exactly the middle of the town and surrounded by the huge garden our guests have peace and quiet when they need it.
