A spacious, comfortable self contained one bedroom cottage with bed that can be configured as a super king or 2 single beds, on Speyside whisky trail attached to a farm house in rural location 10min drive from the centre of Aberlour, spectacular views, own private entrance and patio garden, pets welcome. Many Distillery’s, local attractions,restaurants,pubs and shops all a short drive away, perfect for a quiet getaway and exploring this beautiful area with its countryside, beaches and mountains. A comfortable, spacious cottage with spectacular views over fields and mountains, one bedroom with a bed which can be configured as a super king or as twin beds, a living room with dining area, a shower room with a large shower, a fully fitted kitchen, it's own private entrance and patio garden with outdoor sitting and dining area, access to lawned area next to patio all in a quiet rural spot attached to a farm house surrounded by fields, we are a 10 minute drive from the centre of Aberlour, very close to The Macallan distillery. The cottage is suitable for a couple, two people sharing or a family with a baby. You have your own private entrance from the patio through double patio doors. Guests are greeted on arrival, are provided with a welcome pack consisting of milk, fresh farm eggs (laid by our own chickens), homemade biscuits, tea, coffee and sugar, (we also provide oil, salt, pepper and herbs) then are left in peace to enjoy their stay, owners mark and kate are next door in the farmhouse if guests require any further information or help. Please let us know when you book if you would like the bed configured as a king size or as twin beds. If for any reason we are not available to greet you, you are going to be arriving late at night or you prefer not to be greeted we can leave a key for you. Speyside is a diverse area full of a great variety of activities to enjoy within a few miles. You are on the whisky trail and can visit at least 6 distilleries within 5 miles, (The Macallan and Aberlour are within walking distance). The spey way is a very short distance away, lots of lovely walks. There is the Knockando woollen mill with museum, Ballindalloch Castle with spectacular gardens, and the Speyside Cooperage all close by. From the old tack room you can take a scenic walk to Aberlour it takes you over the river Spey on a foot bridge and into the park in Aberlour it takes around 35 minutes you can then walk into the village where there are various places to eat, shop and look round, at one end of the village is walkers shortbread factory which has a shop to buy lovely shortbread and other products and at the other end of the village is Aberlour distillery. There’s a very long and beautiful coastline to access within half an hour where you can see dolphins, seals and birds of interest. This is not to mention the walking, fishing and even skiing within 50 minutes that can be accessed to enhance your Speyside holiday. Not of course forgetting the chance to spot 'The Northern Lights'! The property is equidistant between Aberdeen and Inverness both around an 1 hour drive approximately and great for access to airports and train stations as well as theatre, restaurants and shopping. There are three train stations in the area. Elgin (12 miles), Aviemore (35 miles), Keith (15 miles). A good taxi service is available if you are doing tours of distilleries and trying a dram or two of whisky (booking is advised) and also a bus service that runs through Aberlour. The old tack room is one of two, one bed cottages converted from the side wings of the old steading the second cottage being The old coo shed (opening soon) We are around a 35 minute walk or 10 minute drive to Aberlour village where there is Aberlour distillery, Walkers shortbread factory and walkers shortbread shops, various shops, pubs, cafes, a Chinese takeaway, a fish and chip shop, Spey larder shop and deli, a butchers/bakers and a co-op supermarket, we are also around a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive to The Macallan distillery which is our nearest distillery. We offer a simple laundry service for a fee as there isn’t a washing machine in the property details are in the information booklet provided in the property. A charcoal Bbq is available on request (charcoal not included).
