White Lilac B&B offers a stunning apartment in a belle époque villa on Lake Maggiore, recently renovated according to eco-friendly principles. Spacious, sunny and romantic, just minutes by car from the lake and the enchanting lakeside town of Arona. Come and stay with us at White Lilac B&B. We have recently renovated the apartment and the whole villa to the highest standards using eco-friendly materials throughout (hemp and clay). These materials have excellent properties which are highly beneficial for the human body. This way we also avoided commonly used building materials which can be harmful for the health. Furniture and fittings are all either antique or of very high quality. Guests have unlimited use of the garden which is on two levels. In addition to a large lawn, there are several shady areas with plenty of top quality garden furniture. The apartment and the garden offer an outstanding view of the castle of Angera on the opposite side of the Lake Maggiore. There is ample parking in the lower part of the garden accessible via an automatic gate. The two levels of the garden and the parking area are connected by a flight of stairs. Guests access is separate from our family's and guests can come and go as they please. Donatella and Simon and our two children live on separate floors of the villa and we are always happy to provide advice and suggestions on the local area. For example cycle tracks, walks, restaurants and cafés. The villa is on the edge of the very picturesque village of Dagnente with a lovely cobbled medieval core. As Dagnente is the closest village overlooking the lake for people traveling from Milan, it is the site of many historic belle époque villas built at the beginning of the last century. Dagnente has an excellent bar/restaurant just a minute from the villa as well as a general store. There are also frequent bus services. From the villa you can easily reach the small town of Meina on the lake below, either on foot or by car. There you can take a ferry service (summer only) which runs to Stresa and the famous islands. There are many sites of interest nearby including Angera Castle on the far side of the lake, reachable by regular boat service from Arona, the seventeenth century San Carlo Statue (once the worlds tallest statue), many picturesque lakeside towns and beaches, beach bars. Stresa is just 20 minutes drive or 15 minutes by train from Arona or Meina, whilst Milan is less than one hour by train from Arona. With its wonderful medieval square overlooking the lake, Arona makes a great place for an evening meal or drink in one of the many popular bars and restaurants. In a strategic location between Milan and Switzerland, just a few minutes from Stresa and its islands, Orta, Angera and Malpensa, this B&B makes an outstanding jumping off point for so many wonderful destinations.
