Secluded beautiful farmhouse, near Bergerac.
La Truffiere (the place of the truffles) has been a much-loved family holiday home since the early 1970s. It is the last house along a small 2 km road that passes several farms, and stands alone in the middle of surrounding fields, with beautiful views in all directions. The countryside is full of arable land, sunflowers and vineyards. A covered terrace was added a few years ago, and allows for eating outside, in all weather. Extensive updating of the property was carried out in 2019. There is a great feeling of calm and relaxation about the house. It comfortably sleeps 8 adults, and there is plenty of room for travel cots (not provided) too. 3 of the rooms have zip-and-link beds, so can be made up as singles or doubles. The 4th room has a double bed. Please let our housekeeper know how you would like the beds before you arrive. The hexagonal pool is surrounded by railings with a gate, so it is safe for small children. It is unheated, but warms up considerably over the summer months. Washing machine and dishwasher are provided (and a tumble dryer, although we try to keep its use to a minimum). Linen, towels, TV and WI-FI are provided. La Truffiere is located just outside the very small village of St Jean De Duras, in the Lot et Garonne, on the borders with the Gironde and the Dordogne.
