On the edge of the New Forest, Shepherd’s Lodge is hidden behind a semi-detached house at the end of its long garden. The cosy cabin has a wood burning stove, electric heating, patio and fenced garden. The sofa has views over the surrounding farmland. There is a separate shower room /toilet, a kitchen/dining area to prepare simple meals, a radio, a good mobile signal but no internet. Covid-19 restrictions mean we no longer provide breakfast. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Sorry, no cats. There is a large patio and seating area as well as shrubs and fruit trees in the guest’s own fenced garden overlooking the working smallholding with sheep, horses and chickens. Access to the cabin is via a garden gate at the side of the house. Please use the hand sanitiser provided. Parking is at the front of the house. Help is available to carry cases if necessary as the garden is about 60 meters long. You have your own fenced garden but access is through the host's garden. There is always something happening on the small holding so there is usually someone around. There is local information on the website but the hosts are always happy to answer any questions about restaurants etc. or farming and wildlife. Fordingbridge - the 'Northern Gateway to the New Forest' - is a delightful, thriving small town with a medieval bridge over the Avon. There are many independent shops, pubs and restaurants. Fordingbridge benefits from an half-hourly bus service to both Salisbury and Bournemouth, as well as the open top bus routes around the New Forest which operate within the summer months. The lodge is less than a half mile from both the town, bus stops, and the New Forest. There are a number of footpaths which can be accessed on foot from the property and it is only a short drive to many car parks in the New Forest where there are excellent walking and cycling routes. The cabin has a wooden floor. You may want to bring slippers.
